86 Square Body on SS AWD
#21
We used the front core support mounts from the SS for the center cab mounts. We used a couple pieces of 2x3 .250 wall welded to the floor, original cab mount support, and rocker. Drilled and taped for the mount bolt to thread directly into.
The original mount was right on the edge of the frame rail and was impossible to use without butchering the frame and loosing strength. This works great. Yes. The mount is leaned out slightly in order to follow the contour of the floor.

Grafted the steering linkage together. The 86's frame is 10" more narrow and the steering box is mounted on the outside of the frame. The 03 has the box on the inside. Anyat, We were able to take the lower collapsible section and remove it from the 86 steering shaft. Cut it down, insert it into the 03 lower section of steering shaft, drill through it and use the original 03 bolt. The upper mount is original 86. It is near its full deflection, but there is no binding or noises lock to lock.
We also made time to run to the U pick and pick up a few things. Luckily found a hydroboost, pedal and mount out of an 85 C30 so thats going in.
Does anyone know what resivior will fit and 03 up master cylinder that has a slightly lower profile than the trucks? The stock one puts the cap into the insulation of the hood.

Thanks guys for the support. Tell me what exactly you'd like to see and I'll make it happen. Just want a walk around video or in motion?
I'm trying to figure out how I want to paint it. I love black and that'd leave the jams and interior correct but, I have to deal with a dirt road and black sucks to keep clean. So I've been contemplating a newer metalic maybe even back with a 2 tone just to keep with the the theme of old with new.
Let me know what you guys think would look good. I know it all boils down to what I want but, I'm open for ideas to consider.
