It may be hard to get if you never had a ratchet shifter, but the ability to change gears, specifically to downshift when ever you want is fun, and with a good ratchet shifter there is no worry about missing a gear or downshifting too far.

It's just a differnt way to select gears. It works the same as your colum shifter except when you manually select gears such as 1-2-3 you can slam or "slap" to the next gear rather than gently moving the column shifter into the next gear without accidentally skipping a gear. If you put it in Drive mode it will drive same as normal, you put it in 2nd and it will drive same as if you had it in 2nd with a column shifter. It doesn't affect the way the tranny shifts, it affects the way you shift.

I don't typically use my tow/haul button, if ever at all.
However I'm thinking of re-mounting it and making it refer to the performance tables set up for manual shifting. Pretty much making every gear shift all the way to 4th at a very low MPH, and disabling TCC.... this way the trans will stay in whatever gear I have the ratchet shifter in and wont apply TCC

thats definately cool, i wanted to do this on my SSS but i'd have to cut the air conditioning vents under my center console...
Julien look up Dozer over on sss.com he also had a really good write up on how to do this shifter, looks awesome nonetheless. still might do this in the future...
