BlackGMC build take 2 - Turbo Time
#805
about an inch prior to the TB, like everyone else that has a turbo....
see the above.... I have had my IAT sensor in the intake itself before and the readings were retarded....
I buy my meth from Smiley's, it is a race/circle track shop... they sell it by the gallon.

Obviously you're not going to see any movement in IAT since you sensor is before the intake. I wonder how much the air is heating up as it goes through the intake. I'm going to install my hi ram no matter what but it would be nice to get an idea of how hot the intake really gets. Do you have a thermal temp gun you could check the outside of the intake with after you drive it for 30 min or so?
I wouldn't ever put the IAT in that intake. No way you could get a viable reading with all that hot aluminum around it. I feel like it would just be heat soaked all the time.

When the throttle was closed the IATs would spike quickly, causing the idle to go retarded... once the throttle opened it is was just a few degrees above outside temp... Then if you turned off the engine and tried to start it, it would barely run due to the temps being insanely high, but once you got some airflow it was fine... So IMO no real benefit of having it there... Probably the reason why GM did not put it in the manifold...

regardless of the temp of the intake, just think about the design of it... very short path from TB to heads... even if it was 2000* how much do you really think the air will heat up only being in there for a fraction of a second....

That's crazy you still have marks I see it being like an oven. Yea you only stick your hand in there for a second but when it's hot enough, your hand heats up quickly. We don't have the cooling benefits that carburetors have so I'm just wondering at what point does it become a "problem".
