I think your original goal there seems conservative.

What about a roll pan and one of the composite beds that were out for a few years to drop more weight?

Those protec boxes and tailgates are hard to find, at least around me.

The roll pan is a no go. I'm down for loosing weight, but won't sacrifice the look. I don't care for the roll pan look.

As for the composite bed, aren't those heavier than the regular beds? I had a coworker from colorado that had that bed and his tailgate was about twice as heavy as mine.

Fiberwerx does bed sides and fenders for everyone in the pre runner scene. I don't see why they wouldn't be capable of replicating stock panels with fiber glass. They have bed sides, hood, and fenders as a package for under 1000 bucks.

Yeah, it was just seeming all the effort you were going through you'd end up lighter than that.

Fiberwerx is garbage, beware of fitment. I have some glassworks unlimited bedsides and fenders on my Sierra. Good stuff, but doesn't belong on a lowered truck. They drastically change the placement of the wheel arches, both higher up and up to 3.5+ inches wider track width.

Well regardless couldn't a company such as fiberwerx/glassworks easily reproduce stock panels without the change in arches?
