I know quite well. Had a friend with a mud bogger. Posted videos a few times if you ever saw them. It was bad *** made around 1000 hp plus 400 of juice in the right classes. He had $10,000 in the engine alone and knows the guy who built the engine.(probably $20,000 in real cost). Who knows how much money and time in the chassis, repairing broken axles and other parts.
When it was ready to run he would drive 1-3 hours towing it along with 3-5 family members, pay around $50-$100 in entry fees. He typically would win his classes but was lucky to "make" $1000 for a weekend. Gas, race fuel, nitrous, food, replacement parts, and all the other little stuff easily made the disappear. Money invested($25,000+ doing the labor him self) got him a lot of fun times and camping trips with family and friends.
Sold it for only a few grand.

For sure. It was a stock 460 block boared and stroked to 508 if I remember correctly. He knows the builder.
