Default boostdsierra FINALLY becomes a Boosted Sierra!!

First off, I want to extend a huge THANK YOU out to everyone on this forum who have both directly and indirectly helped me out since becoming a member. You guys are awesome!

The back story:

I bought the truck in the spring of 2010. Just a 2000 GMC Sierra RCSB, 4.8, Auto, 4WD work truck with 150k on the clock. Definitely ‘nuttin fancy’ with manual windows, cloth interior, floor shift 4WD and a 60/40 bench. But it was LS powered and 4WD which was all I cared about.

Like any self-respecting idiot, the mods started inside the cab with an Alpine receiver, amp and two 10” woofers behind the seats. A Spectra CAI and an off the shelf Magnaflow made it “fast.” And some 05-ish GM 17’s topped it off. This is pretty much how it sat, in daily driver status until winter of 2013 when the trans let go at 190k.

The build:

Been putting parts together for a while, the problem with these long term builds is the aftermarket world ALWAYS comes out with something cooler/faster after you buy something you think you want…. FML!

The goal is to build something reliable, I'm also shooting for 600rwhp but that will increase as I break stuff!

I’m definitely going for the sleeper look as well so the only exterior mods will be rust repair, roll pan, color matched front bumper/mirrors/handles, and probably some lighter wheels....

So here’s what I’ve put together so far:

Engine-

5.3 (L33) stock bottom end

243 Heads w/ Brian Tooley springs & push rods

Comp Cams - .581/.591 Lift, 224/230 Dur., 114 LSA

Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT & Matching 90mm TB

I've already made some progress tearing into the truck but am just getting around to doing a build thread so those posts should follow. I plan to keep this thread pretty light-hearted so feel free to comment/talk ****.
Enjoy!

Limped the truck in the garage and got it on jack stands.
I am WAY too excited to finally get started on this thing I almost didn't know where to start!
I chose the rear end since I already had most everything to pull it build it and reinstall it

Most of my pictures will be from this angle since there is just about enough room to open the drawers on my tool box on the other side, LOL.

Ditching the bumper in favor of a roll pan.
Removed the spare tire & mount, along with 20lbs of mud caked to it.
Also got rid of the hitch, hopefully the only thing I'll be hauling is ***.... and maybe the occasional fat chick.....

Got the rear end and leaf springs out at the cost of a gallon of penetrating oil, multiple saw blades/cut-off wheels and lots of cussing!

Went ahead and disassembled everything and had a local chassis shop Tig weld the axle tubes.

I tried doing some research on the strength of the stock axles because my initial goal was to shoot for the "fastest stock suspension" record but since that bar has been set in the 8's (probably lower by now ) I figured I'd aim for something slightly more obtainable... like don't destroy the truck on the dyno! And for $300 shipped with new studs from Moser, its hard to beat and cheap insurance.

Brown Santa and I are on a first name basis!

Also went ahead and ordered some Energy suspension Leaf Spring bushings, since the old ones were.... less than salvageable...

While removing the leaf springs, I noticed the passenger side front leaf spring hanger bolt hole was more worn out than Kim Kardashian's vagina....
So I went ahead and ordered a replacement for that too.

I started wire-wheeling the frame and got me a can of the Jet Black Chassis Saver so hopefully this weekend I can get the hanger installed and start huffin some paint fumes.

In the meantime, I'm getting pretty good at sitting in the cab and making engine noises.....

The stock axles are pretty dang strong. The guy with the 9 sec. ext cab said he didn't start bending the stock axles until he got into the 9 second range. That being said, those are the same axles I am running. My only confusion is why the studs Moser sent are so damn short.

Thanks!
The tubes are only pressed into the housing from the factory and I've heard that once you start throwing power at the 10 bolts the tubes have been know to spin inside the housing. So for $40 at the Chassis shop, I figured it'd be worth it.

I am going to take a stab at fabricating it myself and just using flipped manifolds. Worst case if I don't like it I'm sure I can give some money to KB/Trick/Huron Speed.
