Since I'm the second owner of this tvs1900 I though about having it rebuilt or at least inspected. Is there anything I can check myself?

Why did you relocate the PCM into the battery position? Did you need some extra room in that spot for something?

The truck saw frequent nose dives into mud/water/snow and the low position it was in always bothered me. I think I ended up moving it when I did my Redhead steering gearbox. If memory serves me right it was sorta in the way and I figured high and dry was safer.

Got a ton done tonight but didn't take many pictures. Got the 4.great pulled out and all the important stuff taken off it. For some reason 5 of the valley cover bolts which are recessed Allen heads completely stripped even after being soaked in creep oil overnight. Had to get in the engine bay and careful use extractor bits. I'm rather religious about torque specs and can't imagine I over torqued them. Luckily the extractor bits were successful.

Also got the new cam 224/228 113lsa tossed in the 6.0 and everything torqued back down. I could have done the wooden dowel technique to hold the lifters up but since I built the motor 6 months ago I kinda wanted to pull the heads and double check everything. All looked well.

Only picture I took tonight will take more tomorrow because I have some questions 😬

Stayed up much to late yesterday to get much done today. Mostly making lists of parts I need to order.

I did snap some pictures of the progress. I've come to realize I mostly update this thread for my own records. Maybe if I die whoever inherits my junk will have some clue of what it is.

R.I.P.

Lots to clean up.

These are the dumb valley cover bolts that required extracting.

It must be, although I've never exactly looked for a part number. Tonight I'll see if I can find one on it. I'll also pull the clutch off and take some pics. I remember doing some research before and the nv3500 and 4500 both can use a 12in diameter clutch. If you already have a 12in clutch you might be able to reuse it. However the nv3500 sometimes has an 11in clutch and NV4500 can upgrade to a 13in clutch.

hmm... the one in it's a LuK, and summitt says it's either 11.938" or 12" (can't remember if it was a 99-00 or 01-02 kit)...
but i'd imagine the clamping force of the pressure plate's a bit higher on the nv4500 kit, though.

Clamping force is a good point. Will still be interesting to see if there any physical differences. I'm still hoping my clutch is good enough to not warrant buying a new one. It's only been 30k easy slow relaxing miles 😬

wait... so you're still running the 4.8 flywheel & clutch?
