Bought some VP madditive octanium and poured it in. I will note here that today when I went to check the codes that only one knock sensor was activated, bank one. Leads me to believe that maybe the harness and sensors are good and I got some dookey fuel

I was cringing at that $20 for 10 gallon treatment but screw it better than replacing knock sensors

Damn looks like they rusted out or something haha
I did pull a plug just to see if I could find the source of my hard starts but it looks better than new so just plugged it back in

Couple days later update, drove 70-80 miles over the weekend no code which is double the mileage before it popped the other times. Drove 12 miles yesterday to work and pop. Do I really have knock? I feel like this is going to be one of THOSE issues

All of them have less than 5k miles. Every time the codes pop they have been different as well. The first time it was codes for both knock sensors the second time it was just for the first one.
edit: have not had a chance to check out the codes that popped yesterday will do that today after I get back home

Knock looks like stair steps on HP Tuners VCM scanner. False knock looks smooth then you see one random spike here and there on the graph, not the stair step that's common with real knock. False can happen at idle, during shifts or even bumps or rough roads causing exhaust systems or other components to bang or rattle around. I've desensitize the sensors in my tune after doing the octane booster with no change on the scanner which indicates false knock. The spark plugs tell where the timing is, high or low and the porcelain shows tiny black specs when knock is present. You can use a 5/8 hole saw and cut the metal away from the porcelain for a much better view during plug read. I'd replace with AC Delco sensors and most use the Dorman harness to save a couple bucks, don't forget new intake gaskets.
