Can I see the knock through HPTuners? If I can I’ll just buy HPTuners as it is cheaper than a real scan tool lol

I'd highly recommend HPT if you're staying with a HPT "supported" performance vehicle. Add a wideband and two hpt credits to the final price.

Quick image search shows the stair step knock. When you have zero knock the red line lays flat on the bottom of the graph. False knock will have a single spike here and there on the graph.

The photo is cropped so you can't see "KR" (knock retard) to the left designating that line.

Gotcha makes sense. My plan for now is to run this tank of gas to empty and fill up again. Run that tank down and then decide on a scan tool/HPTuners purchase. I hate problems like these as these are the ones that make my patience run very thin.

Edit: This is the type of **** that makes me lose love in vehicles

First day out with HPTuners and I see no knock, line is invisible at the bottom of the graph. So yay!

BUT I plugged it in and got everything going and now my truck has P1626 code? Not sure what happened but yeah so security light is on now kinda annoying. Any ideas? I don't think I have actually used any of my credits or anything like that since I just went to the scanner and was using the scanner not the editor.

Edit: Truck is starting and runs fine with the P1626 but the security is stuck on forever. I will delete VATs if that's what it takes cause I would kill myself if I had to see that every day.

It's odd if VATS was disabled before and it's throwing a VATS code now. There is a relearn procedure for that code if it doesn't go bye bye. Go ahead a license the truck read and save your base tune "save as" and name accordingly so you'll have that unaltered file. Then check if VATS is enabled then set to "none" then flash. How far did you drive while using the scanner? Put some miles on her before doing a victory lap regarding KR. When you get a wideband the real fun begins

I drove about 5 miles? It was starting to rain and supposed to hail so didn’t go very far. Cheaped out on the wideband and pro version this time but I’ll get it later on no doubt. Tonight I’ll actually take it out and do a pull and save the base tune. VATs has not been deleted. I have the original pcm and bcm so never did it. The code went away after about an hour and a half maybe? I went outside and it was fine so guess it freaked out on me for a second

With HP Tuners you can force an annoying DTC code like the rear o2's (when deleting cats) to not report so you don't have to look at the SES light. Not sure if the newer MPVI-2 allows you to hook up a wideband through the EGR circuit like the older MPVI-1 standard. One thing you can do without the wideband is to enable PE to a more usable RPM for more power. After you license post a screen shot of the "Engine > Fuel > Power Enrich" settings.

Yeah I drove to work with it plugged in. I noticed though that my evap system is reading incomplete. That I think is a fail iirc and I am wondering if it is because I have a full tank of gas. Tonight I’ll do a full read and post my tune and my log going to work for you to check out.
