Unfortunately my grandfather passed away this morning. He bought this truck from my dad sometime in the early 2000s and he kept it until 2016 when his dementia took away his ability to drive. The truck was passed to me then.
I don't have anything else to say as of right now. I was hoping this post was going to be cathartic but so far no.

Tells us a bit about your Grandpa. Something you recall fondly of. I have good memories of my Grandfather as a child growing.

I took a break from this thread, the truck, the Impala. I really needed some time and I still do. I grieve differently than most.
My grandfather and I did a ton of stuff together. He taught me how to play golf in Conroe, River Plantation golf course. He somewhat taught me how to drive as well in that 3 wheel electric golf cart (anyone on GarageJournal forum knows what I’m talking about). Astros ball games were a frequent event growing up. I will never forget any of those things he did for me.
He always had an interest in whatever I was doing. Every day I saw him he asked me where I was working, did I enjoy it, what I did, how was school, what am I going to school for, etc. He could never remember but I’d tell him every day. Hell I’d tell him 10-20 times a day cause he couldn’t remember but every now and then he’d know what I did. Every few times he would fill in the blanks without me.
I got a new tool box for the shop about a year ago. Set out of the tools in it, organized it and then of course after you use it the tools get strewn about, it doesn’t look as pretty. Well this dude walks in there while I’m at work and just rearranges all the tools to whatever order he wanted that day. Looked perfect. Then, the next day he would probably rearrange them again. Stuff in the shop would just move around and take up residence somewhere else. It was so dumb and frustrating sometimes but I’d give anything for it back.
I washed the truck on Sunday before the funeral tomorrow. The greatest thing about it is he honestly truly loved what I did to it. The drop, the engine everything. I did get the “It’s a truck” comment a few times but he still loved it.

Last car show.
Build threads on PT.net get so off topic. Needed to lube the tear ducts tonight I guess. Sorry for the long post.

Got backed into last night.
Guy had insurance and I have all his information, even got him to admit it on video. 21 year old kid who wasn't paying attention trying to fix his speakers is what he told me lol Originally he ran (said he didn't even know he hit me, YFR) and his girlfriend's dad called and told them they better haul *** back. I was not too happy. I gave him the option of settling this outside of insurance and police so we'll see come Friday. I know where he lives.
Anyway onto the damage. Bumper pad is scratched and ruined, no a big deal cause I was planning on a different one for color matching. Bumper seems undented! Just scuffed but nothing a little elbow grease won't fix. The brackets though seem to be pushed in and over so I am guessing I will be cutting them off and rewelding them. I am going to try and save this one and put the money towards something else. Nothing else looked damaged and his truck is lowered as well so it didn't get anywhere near any body panels or my headlights etc.

Oh Man, that sucks 😞.
Looks like it won't be too bad, however. I would try to get some cash from the kid and avoid insurance claims if possible.

Yeah if we can go that route that would be best. I know that I would want to avoid insurance if I did something like this. He completely admitted fault and did seem apologetic so I am hoping that since he embarrassed himself in front of his girl's dad that is also a large motivator.
That was the 666 post of this thread I just noticed

I figured that was part of the step side bed. But quite possibly
