I paid $72 for the LS2. I will deffinatly buy something tighter when the heads come off this year or next winter for port and polishing. Plenty of people have ran this exact chain or ones with similar slack. I don't like it but I am trusting the 10 or better people that have ran them without issue.

Got the springs changed out tonight! I want to clay the piston to valve clerance and I can messure for pushrods!

I am going to do some searching but can someone give a quick explination of claying. I will bolt the head down hand tight, put a small amount of clay(will silly puddy work?) and turn the engine over. Do I need to have a pushrod in, I am thinking I don't but not sure? Then measure it. The main reason I am checking is because the huge dome on my pistons to make sure there isn't any issues.

I can't find anything on how to clay for the valve clearance. I know it will be fine because the motor had no issues with a smaller chamber head before. Is PTV clearance something I need to check and measure?

I would deff check the PTV clearance.. Arent you running a different cam than the last guy did? or did i mis-read that.. Either way i would check it.

Nope, same bottom end including cam. I am running a differant top end and that is it.

Is my explination correct? Or do I need pushrods to make sure there is a given distance as the valves open and close?

Pushrods are determined by valve train geometry and have nothing to do with PTV clearance. You bolt your heads on, have your lifters in and use a push rod checker to determine length to keep the rocker properly on the valve. Accuracy is important here especially with a non adjustable valve train.....

And yes PTV is determine with a layer of clay on the piston and turning the engine over so both valves open completely.

You need pushrods first!

No silly putty will not work!!! it's too elstaic and will not give you a true measurement. You have to use a modelers clay that won't spring back. And before any one ask, No PlayDough is not modelers clay... it will have the same elasticity problems. Arts and crafts store should carry some sort of Modelers clay that you can use.

I use a dial gauge and a test spring and measure at multiple crank points. The closest the valve comes is usually 10-15 degrees after TDC.
