This is something people aren't looking into. I have thought that through. Yes the rears might slide like on ice, but they just might grip and slow the truck!!!! That is the part we don't know.

I know you were being mostly a smart *** but your example(minus the ice part) helps the idea that the rears may stay on the ground.

My local track requires 4 operational brakes to register a street vehicle to race.

That is a street race. The vehical has to be street legal or pass it off that it is. I am sure it has to have plates and lights too. That is part of a street class.

If you notice they include that in the rules. Mostly to keep dragsters and super fast CHUTE cars out. But is is there for a reason.

Yeah, I don't know. My bicycle stops reasonably well with just the rear brake, but it has no suspension.

Does anyone have the ability to calculate how much friction it would take 4000 lbs from 100 mph to 0 mph? This is the physics needed to determine an answer if it would be possible for the rear tires to offer that much friction.

There's more to it than just friction man, the vehicle needs to stay under control, have the proper center of gravity, the correct suspension geometry, etc.

Over-simplifying the throttle body is one thing, please don't take the vehicle's braking system in that direction also...

Im pretty sure if I went to race in a 3/4 ton truck, they would check the brakes no matter if it was test n tune or a shootout event.

I'm sure someone here can find that calculation for you. What are you planning on runnning as rear brakes I would imagine converting to at least a disc? Also what size rear tire. Both are a very important factor. I think to get the correct amount of fiction your going to need a very large wide tire. Also your suspension has to be dead on or else it will wheel hop as you try to brake and the friction increases. Your most obvious downfall of this idea is the weight of your truck all together. I say just leave the brakes as they are and concentrate on removing weight else were on the truck. Ever consider fiber glass body panels or deleting things like a/c power steering or other things that don't sacrifice yours or others safety?

If I was worried about that little bit of weight I sure wouldnt be running a 2500.
