Default Just another 408 turbo build

I've never really done an introduction thread or anything so I guess I'll do all this at one time.

Hey guys, I stumbled upon these forums about 4 years ago. At the time I thought a CAI and Superchips programmer was hardcore ****. Finding this place has been the best and worst thing that ever happened to me . I read and learned as much as possible for over a year. Then came the point where I was ready to make a move. I finally bit the bullet and sent my first payment to Rick @ Trick so he could start building my stage 2 kit. Also ordered some fic 60# injectors. Within a month my kit arrived, and within a few days I had it installed. Finally found a tuner in Cumming GA (Mike @ Vengeance) and drove it the 3.5 hours there without going into boost.... talking about a hard thing to do. Ended up getting it tuned on the spring only @ 6lbs.... and that's the day I began my broke, part buying lifestyle.

Had a retarted system in it

But it slowed me down so

Circle d verter

Since then a lot has changed... added a ISKY 212 cam, methanol injection, blew up 2 4l80's (one almost burnt my truck to the ground) now have a jakes 80, 2 circle d verters, tru trac, 4.11's, countless hours of tuning, etc.

Ended up making ~530 hp @ 12 lbs with the verter locked, turned it up to 15 and was sliding through the verter cluch. So I'd say somewhere around 600 whp. It felt awesome and on the way home it exploded . But no worries, I continued to drive it all the way to the house with a huge smoke trail.

So now it's time for the final goal I've had for this truck... 1,xxx wheel horsepower.

I called up Brian @ LME and told him what I was wanting to do.... make a lot of power reliably. He recommended a forged 408 so I bit the bullet on a long block equipped with LSA heads. 3 weeks later I had an engine.

Stage 1 of this build will use my existing fuel system and be naturally aspirated. I will acquire a turbo, bigger injectors, and a fuel system and do stage 2 @ 20 ish lbs of boost.

Planning on using a billet wheel / race cover BW 80 mm turbo with rick's new cast manifold. Some of the FIC 1000 injectors and walbro 255 pumps. I want to run E85 since it recently became available here, but I don't know if I'll have enough fuel system to meet my power goal.

Should be a beast man! Go ahead and go with dual walbro 450 pumps so you wont have to do that over when you switch to e85.

I asked lonnie's performance about this and he seemed to lean away from this due to the fat *** bottom on them. Are you running dual 450's?

It got lower since that picture, still need to install the adjustable struts in the front.

If the pump having a larger bottom is a limiting issue, I suggest you find someone else to build you a pump setup, and I am well aware of who lonnie is. I am using dual 400s, but I also just use straight 93. I wouldnt even consider dual 255s if I was wanting 1khp. Look at the stickied thread in the fuel systems section and youll see what I mean.
