I sent my 2600 triple disc back to PI and told them to make it work for an 80e and keep the LS1 bolt pattern so I can use a normal flexplate. I also told them to tighten it up some, so it should stall around 2000 im guessing. I got it back yesterday in case I didnt mention that.

I think you've made a really good choice on the converter and having it tightened up.

Another option would be to just use the stock 80e converter. Only downside is 30lbs more rotating mass than the Vig.

I've got a Yank 3600 in my 80 and I'm looking to change it up for something tighter and add a lot more power.

Yea, I like driving with the stock torque converter much better than even the 2600 it was before, I feel a ton slower but its much more pleasant to DD... I dont have a stock 80e converter, so it was an easy decision to have my nice one modified to work.

gotcha, yeah, my 3600 can be annoying at times. Oh, did I mention I barely get 10mpg. The thing about the 80e is that in 4th the converter always unlocks when you go to 0% TPS. Not a problem or even noticeable with the stock converter, but with a higher stalling one, damn thing will shoot up to 2500-3000.

I'll probably just use the stock converter. I'm really dreading pulling the trans though.

For just a converter swap I plan on keeping it on the jack and simply pull it back from the engine just enough to get the converter out. Gotta have enough room to put the 80e flexplate on too.

I had PB on bench the other day with a clean 415 lift, I was pretty happy with that. Stupid transmissions can suck it.
