Lq9 Crew Cab
Hi guys, I’m new here. This is my first ls truck build. About a year ago I bought a 2006 Cadillac Escalade for $500. 250k needs trans. I’ve help onto it with plans of fixing it but never got around to it. Recently I decided to purchase a 99-06 crew cab truck. I was thinking about using the engine in Escalade to build with. I just wants a quick daily driven truck.(will see pavement on weekends maybe) I have company vehicle I use to commute back & forth to work in. I was thinking mild, maybe 450ish. Any tips? Builds? Parts combo recommendations?, links to similar build? Thanks I’m advanced guys.

You scored a deal for $500 as the LQ9's alone go for $1500 plus. That's a good looking Cadillac I'm sure you can part it out after pulling the motor or even dropping in a 5.3L engine for re-sell.
450 HP wheel isn't to hard with the LQ9 with the right parts. You'll need ported or aftermarket heads that will bump up compression, camshaft in the 300ish duration to spin up to around 7000 RPM, 1-7/8" headers with a free flowing exhaust, TBSS intake or better with a 92mm to 102mm throttle body. Then the usual upgraded trunnion rockers and chromoly pushrods.
I have a LQ9 build in the "Projects Gallery" section of the forum.
It's a long thread with a lot of friendly banter to wade through

Nice score for sure on that Esky. Are you buying a 1/2 ton crew cab?
500 whp, you may as well start looking at forced induction. It will be much easier to get to that point and beyond with some boost.

99-06 1500 crew cab. & I don’t want the forced induction problems just yet! 😬 main goal is trying to find out what is the best cc head to run on stock lq9 bottom end that will allow me to have a decent cam & maximize torque/hp. 1/4 dad truck, might see 200shot of gas once in a blue mood, if Once I rebuild bottom end. Just looking for a good stock bottom end build for now. Stuck between having work done to some 243s or buy prc 2.5s. Looking for high compression na build on 93pump gas with reliability.

Work over a set of 243/799 heads and you will be happy with the results.
