Actually that wasn't my point except the 6500lb truck will push the intake. The point is that the truck has a big motor with a very nice looking engine bay that looks like no expense has been spared. A nice sheetmetal or powdercoated carb intake would not only benefit the big cubes but also the engine bay looks. That is a big motor to push a small intake on.
I dont see how we will push the intake since I run almost 20psi on my stock 5.3 intake.
I did away with the carb idea for a couple things...
Did not want top end power, that does not get you down the 1/4 mile, especially being almost 7K lbs.
Low end would suffer. Need as much power downlow to move the truck. No need to go past 6K on this motor.
ITs a very simple and small cam as well, trying to put the grunt down low.

Now for the thread.Just throwing out idea's and the only question of why the intake that was used.No biggie to me.

Rick, test it and tell me what you think. My results are totally different than what you are saying, even on a Turbo 5.3L. Yes,the stock intake will do it.Can a Carb intake do it better? Expecially on a big stroker motor? I'm a fan of efficient HP with the theory of less boost/stress=more power.

Its cool Don, I know what you are getting at. But in the end if he feels he needs more, which I dont see how that will happen, we can try different things. Its just parts.
