My 2007 Silverado Build...again
#544
Progress has kinda slowed to a crawl
Still waiting on the correct head stud to show up. Once that shows up, I can torque the head down and then drop the motor in and put the turbo kit on. Sucks that one little piece has screwed me so bad. Oh well.
Took some time this weekend to coat the hot and cold side and wrap the hotside. Most of it anyways. 50' of wrap did what you see here. So I had to order more to finish that part up.
I did the new bung -10 bung welded on my fuel. Not happy with what it looks like for what it cost, but its there and it will work. Lesson learned. Got the pan drilled and tapped for the drain. Was going to have someone do it because I didn't trust myself. Took it to them yesterday and they decided they didn't want to mess with it so I said **** it and did it myself. Turned out great.
At this point I'm waiting on my carb still, waiting for my fuel pressure regulator to get back from having a mount made for it, and waiting for the head stud. Getting kind of impatient mainly just because I want everything I've paid for in my possession lol. Not going to get in a hurry once I do have every, but I want to know its all there so I'm not waiting on any one part to be able to progress, like I am now.
It has been fun so far. My girlfriend has been eager to help me which I think is pretty cool. Here she is putting the valve springs on the heads
This is also the first motor I've ever assembled all on my own. Usually have dirt_track_racer_81 do it for me but decided I wanted to try my hand this time. Bought my own engine stand and torque wrench and went to town. Guess we'll see how it turns out lol

I just read this entire post from start to now. And that was a sick nasty truck. Got to page 50 or 51 and the motor was gone and i was like did i miss something or skip a page and went back to make sure the page before. I was shocked. And now here i am at the end.and its back to the beginning. Waiting to see this beast finished. Sub'd. Nice truck and nice work too btw. Exciting thread.

LOL yeah it was a pretty quick decision. A guy offered me enough money to have it pulled and delivered that day, so I went and borrowed a cherry picker and pulled it and delivered it to him. It was tough to let it go. I had an attachment to it for some reason. But, one thing my ol man taught me at an early age is "money talks and bullshit walks" That money was hollerin at me! "TURBO!" So here we are lol

The truck is about 95% ready. I'm still waiting on the carburetor. It was shipped today. Still waiting for me fuel pressure regulator to get back with the new bracket.
Fuel cell is back in
Fuel pump mounted
Feed line ran
Return line ran
Turbo kit is on
I'm pretty much the only moron in the country with a 2007 truck and a carburetor so a little modification had to be made in the fabrication process of the cold side. I wasn't able to get Trick Performnacr any measurements when he built my to be able to connect the cold side to the carb hat. He made an educated guess on the finishing lengths and nailed it. I won't have to lengthen or shorten any pipes to make it work. Thanks again Trick Performance. Can't wait to fire this thing up and start drivin it around

In all honesty, I don't expect it to be very fast at first. I don't see a problem running 12s, maybe 11's, but I'm at the point where I'm kind of burnt out on spending money on it. Not that I won't want to go faster in the near future, but for now I just want to drive it again
