My 2007 Silverado Build...again
#717
Well, in typical us fashion, nothing really went as planned this weekend.
Got the truck to the shop a little later than we wanted to Thursday night. Putting miscellaneous stuff on the motor and broke one of the screws off the oil pressure sensor for my racepak. Looked for numbers on the sensor to see if I could possibly find one somewhere the next day and couldn't come up with anything so I got out the soldering iron LOL. Got that "fixt" and started to put the motor in and it didn't go as smoothly as it should have for some reason or another.
Test fit the intake once the engine was in and discovered the fuel pressure regulator set to high(good call blown06)that was an easy fix though.
The fitting configuration I had on the back of the rails wouldn't work, they hit the firewall. Fixed that.
Mounting the fuel pump and filter configuration took some time. Running feed and return lines isn't a hard task, but as low as my truck is and without having a lift, moving from front to back with the jack is time consuming.
The turbo is IN YOUR FACE huge. The overflow tank had to be moved. No way around it, the exhaust housing was touching the tank. AC lines had to be moved/bent more, hoses re-routed etc...
Ordered a 3" to 2.5" coupler to go from the turbo to my existing cold pipes...Unfortunately the turbo has a 3" ID and a 4" OD so my coupler wouldn't work.
Then I broke both my new -4 90* fittings I had for my oil feed line for the turbo. Hardly any pressure on them at all and they just snapped. Sucks
Bunch of stupid little problems but that's just the way it goes I guess. Ordered all the right parts and parts to replace broken ones and we'll try it again next weekend.
HUGE props to Kyle at KBracing. His hot parts fit amazing and even with the GIGANTIC Precision 66mm wastegate under the truck, I still have great ground clearance. The gate is higher than the frame rails. Good stuff. Also the 4" downpipe fits with all kinds of wiggle room.
