quick question.... so im going to be building the shroud for the fans out of aluminum im pretty sure. my idea is a to get a flat piece and to use some 1" or 1.5" square tubing and use self tappers and silicone to secure and fasten everything into place. now the best idea i have come up with is to use cardboard to make a template any other ideas on how to get one going? thanks for the help

Cardboard would be a big help making a template but I doubt you need too much of a "shroud", really just need something to hold the fans close to the radiator and provide a little support. Also, you can reuse the existing mounting bolts & holes that are already there holding your current shroud. That's what the f-body fans use and then just rest on the existing little shelf on the bottom of the radiator, no other attachment needed.

I also installed a remote start on my '01 Silverado, if you run into trouble I MIGHT be able to help, maybe not.. Good Luck, I like your truck, the mods and the write-up!

I can't answer that for sure other than not much? Take a look at how the f-body fans mount, you can see they don't sit very far from the radiator..

As long as it's not flopping around smacking the radiator, I don't see why not
