Need swap help(flex plate issues)
well i got the 5.3 out and stuck the 5,3 flex plate on the 6.0. When i got the 6.0 in there there was a space between the converter and flex plate so when i got the second bolt in the converter it popped and slammed against the flex plate. Both my brother and i tried to re-seat the converter but couldnt seem to make it seat(still has side to side movement). so we pushed it till it clunked once and then decided to put the spacer on from the 6.0 flex plate. Then, it was too tight and wouldnt even turn over. this is a 01 5.3 curved flex plate, going to a 60E andwhat i assume to be a 02+ 6.0 because it doesnt have a long crank on the rear. So couple questions, do i need to run the 6.0 spacer? did i screw up the converter or are we not seating it back up properly?

If you're using an aftermarket converter, shimming may be necessary. This is the best writeup I've found. How to Install Converter

Thanks, yea we bolted it up with the 5.3 flex plate and no spacer but when i bolted the converter to the flex plate it pulled it forward. So do i need to put washers in between the converter and flex plate?

If you didn't clean the trash out of the hole in the back of the crank, and clean the crank snout before installation, the snout may have been hanging up, until you got the second bolt in there, & it lined up better. That's all I can guess that would do that.
However, when you installed the spacer, and bolted it all up, you possibly could have damaged something in the pump. At this point you'll just have to cross your fingers, and finish the installation.
