its a 6l80 with 4.11 rear end ratio so its brutal in the first two gears or so. There is something at the moment thats grinding and sort of feels like a resistance in the transmission, I can still cruise and go WOT but something feels really weird going WOT.

right also its a 6l80 with upgrade clutch packs and I dont beat on the truck at all. Will send it to the dealer tomorrow, the truck actually has a warrantee on it the way it sits, of course it wont have a warrantee when its all done and said

I also have a Circle D 6l80 transmission being built as we speak.

Well I really want to but it seems its not as simple and might possibly cause me more trouble than I care for. Also I think I can get away without having to mess with the fuel pump if I just do the cam, throttle, exhaust and retune. The converter itself will be worth alot of power when I lock it in 3rd. The transmission will let me shift at a higher rpm which it also worth some speed. Ill cover up the bed which should reduce drag at speed.

On the other hand if I decide to do it I will have to do a surge tank in the bed, with dual Bosch 044's and then I have some tricks up my sleeve to limit power in 1st and 2nd gear, or at least limit the power just at the shifts to prevent the transmission from exploding.

Would the factory torque management be enough to help with limiting power during shifts? Do you do your own tuning? I would like to see your tune just for the fun of it if your okay with that.

I have a torque management trick that not alot of people know about, I made my ZR1 drive like it had 100hp

Ok I said initially that I smoked my transmission, now after driving around for a while I think its not the transmission that I smoked but the torque converter instead! thats a relief since its an easier fix, and also since I was worried about the transmission holding up my current power output let alone the power output after all the mods go in.

Sent the truck to the dealership and they should figure it out soon.

For the time being, check this out!

hate to say it but a lot of the times when it a torque converter fails it sends clutch material through the entire transmission...

well the truck is still drivable, I drove it those two days, I just cant go WOT it shudders and I could feel some resistance in the drivetrain, then theres idle the truck doesnt want to idle properly the revs seem to jump up and down, the transmission feels fine though so im not sure. I will flush the transmission oil as well to see if anything comes out.

Worst case scenario is I have the circle D converter, flexplate and transmission coming soon!

So im thinking can you explain how a converter fails? did my converter fail or is it about to fail?
