Thanks a lot guys. Took a lot of cleaning and prep, but I think it payed off well.
I worked on it again today for a bit...got the final assembly done on the heads, installed the S&P mount plates, and an adapter for the temp sender.
Pulled off the masking
Installed the new MLS Head gaskets
Along with the hardened ARP head bolts
Comp hardened pushrods
compared to stock
S&P mount plates
They did not fit right...had to clearance the front corner of the plates on both sides in the same spot.
The plates installed
The adapter fitting for the old style temp sender so I can retain my stock gauges

Looking good.
Good to know about the s&p plates. I have the same ones which I am going to use for my swap.
Also you could have also used a multi-element temp sensor from a 98 camaro (I believe) that has two outputs, one for the pcm and one for the gauge. Just makes it a little cleaner looking.
Multi-Element Coolant Temp Sensor
Part# 12551708
Connector part# 12102748
A = black(gray 6.0)............coolant temp input to ecm, low reference
b = yellow...........coolant temp input to ecm, sensor signal
c = green............coolant temp input for cluster mounted temp gauge

well, I wanted to retain both the temp and the oil senders that are on the stock engine in the 97 350. The threads on the ls motors are metric, and the ones on the older lt style is standard.

ended up using a flat file by hand, and it only took a min or two to get the job done...wanted to do it by hand so i could minimize the amount of material I took off. Worked out well.
