Default Ory the truck that shoulda been scrapped a long time ago

A little back story on this build .
My dad bought the truck new December 12 1998 I was taken to the hospital while my mom was in labor my birthday is April 18 2000 I was then spawned and taken home in it . When my mom and dad split up he quit driving it for the most part in fall of 03 it had 100,000 miles at that time well fast forward to fall of 2016 I’m taking the bad engine (127,000 miles) out of it and swapping a new one in so I can have a first vehicle . Got it done hotrodded the hell out of it for about a year until that one got water in the oil and spun rods so It sat all summer until fall when I found another engine (current 06 5.3) and swapped it in . A few 4l60s later and here we are with the Huron speed kit and a gt45 turbo with the rest being eBay or Emusa parts . Somewhere along the way i spun out from a bad tire and hecked my cab and bed up pretty bad so that needs fixed but not important right now . So now that winded part is over time for the goodies 😁 the current setup I’m working on is a 2000 6.0 4l80 push button tcase for the truck . It’s got a rebuilt trans 28,000 miles and an aluminum head swapped long crank 6.0 I scored for 850 . The plan is ljms stage 2 turbo cam pac 1218 springs and possible rod bolts and head studs . The trans will receive the almighty transgo hd2 kit and a Jakes performance triple disc lockup converter . Now for the pics

I think I just fell in love with that body style again. Really a shame about wrecking it. Hope it turns out ok because so much family history.

Thank you ! It means the world to me I wouldn’t trade it in for a million dollars and no matter what anybody has said I’m determined to fix my “junk” and make it one bad *** street truck ! I’ve been torn between cams I like the summit 8706 turbo cam but it lacks much review the sloppy stage 2 will be good but not what I need I think and the btr or ljms might be another choice not exactly right .

Trusty old 3 door cab... I wonder if you can still get a 3rd door cab panel from GM...
I don't think any one makes a complete replacement panel.

GM says the part has been discontinued. 15049277

Maybe you can find an N.O.S. one somewhere.

I’m gonna cut out the pillar from a junkyard for the 4th door ... eventually.

Ill have that conversion from 3 door to 4 on this thread since no one has ever posted one . expect this to be a 2 year + build

Cut the Whole left side of the doner truck off. Cut Through the floor, cowl, and the roof area. The inner structure is different between the 2 trucks.

At that point a whole cab swap is probably easier and more cost effective, but if you want a project by all means do it and post results. Would be interesting to see the fab work.
