Default Picking up a ZR2 S10.. Have 5.3 hmmmm.....

I am going to go this week to trade my truck in on an 03 ZR2 S10 with a 5 speed.. Truck is clean and un abused.. I already have a 5.3 from an 06 Tahoe sitting in the garage im building.. Want to swap it into the S10 in the spring..

Question is this.. do you think that the 5 speed will simply fall into place. I plan to order up a 4.8 truck flywheel and new clutch... I hear that some of the trans' had longer or shorter input shafts.. does that apply here or would it be the correct one.. I want to be able to have the pieces sitting ready to go that way i can do this and be finished quickly.. I want to have it done in a weekend..

BTW i know that the 3500 is not a heavy duty trans.. I plan to upgrade to a 4500 from a 3/4 ton truck as money permits but right now im not going to be beating on the thing.. just think a little S10 with a cammed up V8 rumble would be too cool..

Im looking for any sort of input.. Asside from the hum drum "that trans will be broke in a week" type stuff.

They told me that about the T5 in my El Camino too.. but its been in there for 3 very hard years and it is fine..

You still have to figure out an oil pan, mounts and get creative with the exhaust. The zr2 trucks are a dif breed all together than the regular s10. I haven't seen 2 done the same way.

Input shaft is the problem on the S10 5 speed, no workie on the V8. Also the full size truck 5 speed wont work in the S10 due to the shifter location and the right front lower control arm mount being in the way.

I have tried both of these transmission combos in the back couple months. T56 is the only one that will fit (of the 3 I tried)

What is the problem with the s10 5 speed fit? There is a truck I was told has this swap, thought they said they just needed the crank spacer for the pilot bearing.

I thought there was some sort of offset bolt in pilot bushing they sold somewhere.. that would make it all work..
