I need to just do like blackgmc and learn to do it myself. be 100% self reliant aside from converters and driveshaft builds.

If it is the old Vince that used to work at FLT:

Thats pretty cool you still keep up with the dude. I know he was a major asset to FLT when he decided to move on. If I remember right didn't he move under the umbrella of a major auto manufacturer doing testing or am I thinking of someone else? Does he still build transmissions?

...as for FLT, I don't really hear too much about them anymore. For me, it was Parish8 that put them on the performance trans radar. I used them with success but have moved to Rossler over the years as I don't really mess with too much OD stuff anymore. I do remember Flaco using them several years ago on the lil sis truck and he praised them as well. That was after Vince left if I remember right. I guess what I'm getting at, do they still put out very nice transmissions?

Man, I would kill to have the knowledge of a successful transmission builder. When I see an auto in pieces, my mind just goes into full retard mode and I forget who I am for a few minutes.

Once its all set up with the valve body and hard parts mods its not terribly complicated or difficult to maintain. I dropped mine installing it and cracked the case and got tired of shipping it or having buddies that work in trans shops do work on it so I said screw it and swapped everything over to a new case myself. It has held 650ish so far without a problem. The biggest thing is getting the clutch pack clearances where you want them, which if you can add and use a feeler gauge isn't difficult.

same vince. he still works on transmissions, but I don't think it's out of a performance shop. factory rebuilds from what I remember. I could never afford FLT back then because I was a poor college student trying to be fast. I ended up buying a lvl7 that had issues (saw water) and sent it to vince for a rebuild along with some upgrades that weren't available when FLT sent it out the door. that transmission worked like a champ for the time I had it in a light truck. wheatley plans to test it behind his whipple 370 crew cab. that will be the real test. especially if he ever grabs the trans-brake in that heavy bucket.

That flexplate looks interesting!

Finally some progress!

What is up with the double holes in the converter? Do you put 2 bolts per spot there?

I think you can get your numbers. I did WAY better than I thought I would on just 16-17psi. At 21-22psi I would think you would have low 10's pretty easy if you can get your 60' down.

I hope your tires are sticky.

There are 2 bolt circles on the converter for different bolt pattern flexplates, most likely 60e and 80e flexplate compatible in this case. My converter from PTC uses a similar back, but with 3 bolt circles so it works on basically any flexplate.
