Hello folks, allow me to introduce myself and my current big project... what Im working with here is a 1971 Chevy C10 SWB fleetside. I bought her in the winter of 2009 while on a work trip overseas. In her lustre(less) primer, original engine, and lovely blue and grey burlap sack seat cover, this is how I saw it for the first 3 months of ownership
During the trip, I browsed around many forums and many other parts websites and decided to go the air suspension route. In that process, I consulted one of my friends of whom has built a couple magazine featured trucks. Some of the ideas I followed from him are now ones Im wishing to change. I pieced the entire setup together, making sure I knew exactly what I needed and had. The suspension consists of
4-Slam Specialties RE-7 bags
8-1/2" SMC Valves
2-Viar 380C Compressors
2-3 Gallon tanks
Dakota Digital pressure gauge
AVS switchbox
Once everything was ordered, my father(of whom is going to be doing the body and paint work for me) started to disassemble the truck. Media blasted the frame as well. After some shaving, more dismantling, etc. here is what we were left with
-Shaved door mirrors
-Shaved marker lights
-Shaved wire tray on firewall
-Shaved heater box and blower on firewall
-Smoothed out spot welds on firewall
-Shaved tailgate handle, relocated to the inside of tailgate
-Relocated battery
-Smoothed out recess for radio
-Shaved OEM climate control, ash tray, ignition switch, and cig lighter
-One piece door windows
-Custom built brushed aluminum front inner fenders
Then it was on to the final body work touches, more primer, and then TAH DAH! Color!!! The final color choice for the truck was DuPont HotHues Velocity Orange on the exterior. The interior of the cab was finished with Hot Rod flat black with exception for the dash and doors of which were sprayed Velocity orange. The plan for the interior is coming soon.
Piecing it all back together slowly
I have decided to go with an all brushed metal flow throughout the truck. Basically all chrome, aluminum, etc pieces will be brushed. All the chromed stuff(bumpers, door handles, gas cap) will all be zinc plated before getting the brushed treatment. The only exception will be the wheels. The wheels I have picked out for this are Intro Speedstars. They will stay polished, but the centers of the spokes will have their "satin" look to them. 18x8 in the front, 20x10 rears and they will have stepped lips.
I used the Top Banana Smoothie front bumper, plan on using the same idea for the rear bumper as well.
Once I got the above picture, I realized that the original control arms with the bags just weren't gonna cut it. I had to get tubulars... Just so happened to run into Scott's Hot Rods at the GoodGuys Del Mar show and got 20% off my purchase. When she finally got home to my place in Cali, they were installed and it was oh SO much better!
Picked up a brushed aluminum cluster bezel from NoLimit Hot Rods out of San Bernardino and the matching glove box door.
It will be paired up with some fresh AutoMeter Pro Comp gauges

Now, time for the reason I am here... I found this site while browsing LS1Tech.com and figured it would be a good home for me. Just the other day I worked out a purchase on a 2006 LQ4. Here she be.
It was advertised on craigslist as an LQ9 with LS2 heads, but after looking at the pictures it was clearly an LQ4. Called the guy and confirmed that the heads are 243 castings and the intake manifold is LS2 as well. The ad also said a comp cam was installed, so I will have to look into that and see what thats all about. Im shooting for ~450WHP with it. Behind the LQ will be a T56 and beefed up 10 bolt rear.
Well, thats the story for the moment. Chime in!

Nice, beautiful, and just plain out cleean *** truck man! PROPS! Cam sounds like it should do business with a smooth idle too, I think i would mill the heads some to get a bit more compression depending on what your uses of the truck are gonna be?
