It was just a guess. Just from pulling them in the past, they are on there pretty tight. You are right, being a small shaft a .001-.002" may be closer.
I've been out of the machinist business for 6+ years, i'm a little rusty.

... key is that the final bore diameter needs to be something that ATI can live with. I am certain they have their own tolerances for the materials being used. It sure would be nice if the vendors were privy to manufacturing tolerances of the shafts coming from either GM or their foundry. Maybe I'm splitting hairs...
Has anybody been able to confirm whether or not the 3/4 ton power steering pumps are the same as the 1/2 tons? Steering racks are completely different... just wondering out loud if the pumps are different.
FWIW, I have not heard of one single issue with ATI's 8rib power steering pulley on the C5's... solid products for sure.

FYI for anyone wanting to run a 6, 8, 10, 12 rib setup:
Got this email from ATI:
"We do make 8" diameter dampers fairly often. We do stock 7.5", 6, 8, 10, 12 and HTD shells though for LS1 applications. And the 8 - HTD are complete kits of pulleys. Our work with the LS1 engines started a long time ago but I have don a lot of testing on the C5R and C6R engines for Katech, and we were also the stock damper on the ASA Series sealed LS1 engines. Most recently Carl Wegner uses our damper and crankshaft pin kit on the New NASACAR Bush East engines."
