Too bad a grease sert couldn't be added at the eye.
Sounds like a possible problem.

The problem is less noticable on a 1500 leaf pack because there are less leaves at that point where the caltrac side plates pivot on.

now here's an interesting find, with the caltrac's unloaded ALL angles changed as follows:
...............................caltracs........... .............unloaded
diff angle.....................93*..................... ..........92*
rear d/s angle...............98*........................... ....96*
front d/s angle..............95*............................ ...93*
trans angle...................95*....................... ........93.5*
pinion angle w/caltracs loaded -5* (diff 3* up)
pinion angle w/caltracs unloaded -4* (diff 2* up)
is my math correct here folks?

Sounds right. I figured you would have had the answers by now......
I think I will keep my o.e. hangers and just shim my axle to a pinion angle of -3 or -4. Lets just hope the 2* shims that I have will allow these angles.
Caltracs will be installed tomarrow.

What reference surface are you using to measure your pinion yoke face? In theory you are supposed to pull the axle and measure on the surfaces that the u-joint mounts to. If you are happy that your diff angles are accurate then those calculations look good to me.

If I'm off, it's not by much
