Default Project crew cab go faster :D

Figured i should start a thread about my slow truck

Specs - 2007 silverado crew cab classic - z71 4x4 - 3.73's - 5.3 - loaded blah blah..

I finally got serious about going faster last year and picked up a 99' ls1 long block with the big chamber 853's on it..

Then it was on from there and i dropped some coin at Thunder Racing and Circle-D!!
Parts list includes-
2400-2600 278mm converter
Comp cam 216/220 .525/.532 114
Ls7 lifters/trays
ls6 yellow springs
New valve seals
new main,rod and cam bearings
Ported Ls6 oil pump
Ls2 timing chain
Arp rod/head bolts
New knock sensor's
various seals and gaskets

I reused the stock push rods, locks and retainers..

Everything going together with thanks to a couple of awesome pt.net members

And the assembled longblock ready to go in

Ye' Ol' 5.3 finally makes its way out
I cleaned up a the oil pan, valve cover's,rear cover and valley cover then swapped thme to the ls1..

After i got the ls1 in,got the startup tune loaded up and got it running i discovered a coolant leak on the driver side head...
Well being in a hurry putting the motor together we left out a dowel in the block for the head so i figured it was slightly off and caused the leak...So i replaced the dowel and used a fresh mls head gasket and fired it back up and
luckly it stopped leaking lol..

This setup made 338hp/344tq at the rear tires in 2nd gear with the converter lock

In doing some researce on the older 853 heads they need to have the graphite head gasket's..So i had to head out of town for work and ended up putting about 12k miles on the mls gaskets with very little leakage..

That brings us up untill 3 weeks ago

Since im a stock spring kinda guy i picked up a set Ls9 springs from Lingenfelter along with new seals and gaskets..

The rockers with the push rods still have a very good wear pattern with the cam,ls7 lifters and GM mls gaskets..

Truck is still not retuned since the head swap but it pulls alot harder at all rpm then it did tuned with the other heads

The truck also got a trucool 40k when the heads went on

As of last week im still gathering parts for the next round (which is part of round 2) which includes the tbss intak manifold,ls3 90mm tb,4" silicone intake and retune of course..

Ls3 tb i picked up for $60 shipped that has 100 miles on it

4" silicone from silicone intakes dot com

For the time being im going to run the bottom of the stock air box fed with a volant ram air tube, topped with an old clear UDP lid like the one in this pic

The plan for winter is to fab a smoother flowing bottom air box out of aluminum that will be sealed and fed from the tube only
