Project excesss has begun!
I figured I'd start posting the progress of my project for those of you guys, like myself, that enjoy watching/learning as a build comes together.
**(I will add updates to the original post to keep it all together for people who view this post months down the road. Timeline is continued on page 4)**
Just changed pistons and rods for more boost/power. JE pistons and eagle H beam rods. Just waiting to do some logging and send it over to justin to finalize my tune.(nov 18, 2010)
Also I don't know if I said this or not but it has a brand new 4L80E tranny in it. I got it from the factory brand new in the box and its got a transgo shift kit. It has around 2000 miles on it now. Also it does not have them ugly pips coming out the back any more, it has a side exhaust behind the right rear tire(magnaflow) I will get some pics up.(nov 19, 2010)
Game plan is 6.0 liter swap with 4l80 in a RCSB Silverado. First build a strong foundation then install the single turbo.
Heres the progress so far:
rest of the pics of the truck stock: http://s80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ect%20excesss/
March 30, 2009: Ordered the following parts: Belltech 2/3 drop kit (front:spindles, rear: shackles/hangers, performance shocks) , Centerline Rapid wheels 20x8.5, Nitto NT555R 275/40/20 rears and NT 555 255/45/20 fronts
April 2, 2009: Complete 6.0 liter engine ordered (donor: 2004 silverado 2500 HD 36k miles)
April 8, 2009: Engine arrived in crate. Hoping the insides are all intact.
April 9, 2009: Install begins. Tranny and 5.3L taken out. 6 liter was cleaned and ready for a few new pieces.
April 10, 2009: Long night, some goodies installed... Comp cam (214/220 duration 600/579 lift 117 lsa), patriot extreme springs, ARP head studs and connecting rod bolts. Got stuck when putting motor back together and head bolts didn't fit. Come to find out the motor was built in 2003 even though it was a 2004 truck. Went to Thunder Racing the next morning and got ARP head studs for a 2003 instead.
April 14, 2009: Discovered my old 4l80 from project heavy chevy isnt going to work with this setup. Going to have to get a new input shaft and see if they make a bracket for the electronics. 6 liter installed with the stock 4l60 for now. Runs strong. Not mashing it too much until tank full of regular fuel is out (tuned for premium).
I'd like to put a shout out for Blanchard performance engineering for letting me use his shop and work side by side with him allowing me to learn so much. Also for answering all of my dam questions. If you like a meticulous honest guy who knows his **** he's your guy. There's not many mechanics still around like him (at least in my area that is).
April 16, 2009: Tires arrived! Still waiting for Centerline to make my wheels and ship em. I can't wait to get rid of these ugly *** stock wheels.
April 17, 2009: License plate put on truck ;-)
April 22 & 23, 2009: Lowering kit and wheels arrived
April 24, 2009: Wheels and tires installed, (ready for it to be lowered because stock height dwarfed the 20's)
April 28, 2009: Belltech shackles, hangers, spindles, and performance shocks installed, WOW lowering the truck exceeded my expectation on looks and handling, dam the truck handles sooo well on a curvy road now. I can just imagine what the Hotchkiss sway bars will do later on down the road
**More pics to come of how the truck looks lowered, finished up the install at night so too dark for pics.
April 29, 2009: When I got the truck I decided I didn't want the side moldings on the truck anymore. This might sound funny but I've never pulled side moldings pulled off and didn't know what the hell to expect when doing so; adhesive underneath/ pain mismatch/ etc. Well today I said screw it and I pulled them off. 3m wheeled that adhesive off and it came out great!
I'm posting a couple pics of the truck lowered with the wheels because it was requested but don't look at the paint. I'm ashamed I havent waxed the truck yet because it REALLY needs it. Just haven't found the time.

April 30, 2009: Contacted Livernois..... I bought the last turbo kit they had in stock (67mm)!!!

Still waiting for the wheels and lowering kit to arrive to put those on. Oh the stock 5.3L with 42k miles is for sale. The 4L60 will also be for sale soon for anyone who is interested. Once that and my 92 chevy sell the turbos will be going in.
The 92 was painted storm grey 1000 miles ago (Dupont paint). Third break light filled, antenna shaved, tailgate handle relocated, brand new bed rug, and a goodmark cowl hood. It has a eaton posi unit with 373 gears in the rear end. All it needs is a motor and tranny and its good to go. I'm selling it for $3000 if anyone knows someone looking for a truck like this send them my way.

I've come to learn break cleaner and those blue shop paper towels work wonders on cleaning anything. It sprays pretty dam hard for being in a can too. You could probably do a pretty good job with them even though your engine is installed.
