Because the S10 has modern suspension, brakes, and the frame is boxed in some spots. And the wheelbase is within a quarter inch i think. Im doing this to a 1950 AD also. Snag a $500 or cheaper 2wd reg cab long bed S10, sell off the body if its decent, sell off the motor/trans, swap in V8, explorer 8.8 rear, drop body on, done and done.
Its not quite that simple, but you get the idea.

*edit just found some info and I would have to cut portions of the frame to get a Ext cab, short bed under it. Man I wish you could do a write up on the swap. Would make it worth my while haha

I WILL do a build thread on it, once i get off my lazy *** to work on the project. The truck was/is slowly rusting away in my garage. And the donor s10 was my DD for over two years.
It is really hard to get the motivation to do this stuff on the side, when you do it all day at work.

And FYI, there are some build threads on S10 frame swaps on ratrodsrule, killbillet, 67-72 chevy forum, and the HAMB. Among other places.

Ya, I'm not using a "kit" because I can do much of it myself. Plus I'm ditching alot of the parts that the kit compensates for. IE- no running boards, glass tilt front end, tubbed out rear, new custom floor and firewall.
