Project Kermit
So...I guess it's somewhat known that I'm rolling around in stock trim nowadays! It's pretty lame but at least it's reliable!
In late march with Henry and Dusty's help (thank you again ) I pulled the drivetrain, turbo and misc stuff out of the Crew Cab and returned it back to stock! On the way home I stopped by and picked up a new toy that I bought from Henry!
The truck is a 2001 Silverado RC. Truck comes with a 4L80E conversion, ladderbars, upgraded heat exchangers, REALLY REALLY nice suspension set-up (in these pictures she is "riding high" because I pulled the engine out and threw it in the CCSB), Hydro Boost, Tru-Trac, Tucked/widened fenders, "C" notched frame, Leather interior, etc...
Plan is to drop the forged 370 and the FLT Lvl 5 4L80E into the RC and run it N/A for a few months. Rex stopped by and he helped me (or more like I helped him) pull the old "Turbo Cam" out of the engine on Friday and while we were in there I checked the bearings and wear on the bottom end. So far so good! (Pretty surprised considering the amount of abuse and negligence I threw at it! )
Rotating assembly still had .006 of play...
Looks like my pistons got pretty hot :nunchuk1:
Bearings looked really good (better than I ever would of expected), and the oil was fairly clean, no sign of shavings, grit or grim, albeit really black.
As far as power goes I am staying Turbo that's for damn sure But just not sure which way I'm gonna go yet, I have a few ideas but will make up my mind later after I have Kermit back on the road. But I will say that I'm shooting for somewhere around 800rwhp.
In the process of pulling things off the CCSB I've swapped some stuff onto "Kermit". And this how she sits right now.
When I drop the engine and tranny in all four wheels should be tucked.
Unfortunetly I've been busy prepping the garage at my house (epoxy'ed the floor, built/assembled shelving, got a workbench and tools, also built a pool table and a bookshelf! ) so "Kermit" has been sitting neglected in the street at my other house for the past few weeks but hopefully she'll be home for good soon. I hope to have the Wilwood disk brakes on her as soon as I get her down here. I'm kinda excited to see how a RCSB stops with the Wilwood Big Brake kit (16" rotors and 6 piston front calipers and 14" rotors and 4 pistons calipers in the back) and Hydro boost. I think I'll have more fun going 100-0mph than I will going 0-100mph!
This isn't gonna be a GMRacer build (I only wish I had those skills), nor will it be a 8Alting (already dropped too much $$ in the last one) but will probably be a Grippy build. Sorry in advance for those of you who are impatient!
I hope to have the CCSB truck and my STS kit sold in the next couple weeks. After which I hope to have some $$ for groceries and Kermit!
Maybe now I'll stop getting 4-5 PM's a day asking me what I'm doing!
PS (Henry I know she's dirty but I will clean her up soon...I promise!)

Man, your relentless!! Poor guy!
Kermit will if I can sell my truck and STS kit. I don't want to put myself too much in the hole $$. And your gonna build me the DP cuz I know how much you enjoyed doing yours! Get to work!
