Project Silver Bullet!

Got my new deatsch werks 38lb 32D-00-0038-8 injectors in the mail the other day! hopefully getting them installed during thanksgiving week...They should be plug and play physically and they provided all the tuning data via email/excel file. I believe they provide data for a returnless fuel system and the injector data changes as the kpa changes but upon looking at my stock data I think I only need to copy over some of the data they provide (still looking into this)

Headed back to parents early for christmas and started my cam/head swap!
Parts bench
intake off - dirty !
front accessories off and rockers exposed
heads off!
after block was bare decided to change out the motor mounts
driver side was starting to crack
passenger side was destroyed and missing the entire piece of rubber! This was the reason why my headers did not fit properly!
timing cover off
exposing the cam!
pulling out the stock cam
stock vs new AI 224/228 .610/.605 114+2 cam
cam card shows that the grind was extremely close to what it was speced to be , within .5% of the speced duration! spec was 224/228 .610/.605 114+2 - actual final specs are 225.2/229.1 .610/.604 114.3+2.8 . overall overlap is -0.7 so it should i have a noticeable lope . for reference the popular 224R 112 has 0 degrees of overlap so it should be very slightly less lopey than the 224/224 112
New heads! started off as a craigslist find of some 799's that came off of a NBS tahoe with supposedly 80k miles. was left out in the rain so the valves and springs were junk. found a set of used valves on craigslist to replace the stock rusty ones. contacted phil at advanced inductions he was able to help me out. they recommended their 243 cast 226cc port job and had them milled down .03" which then the chambers measured 60cc. With my fel-pro .041 ls1 head gaskets it should bump my static compression to roughly 9.87:1.
updating the stock rockers with the trunnion bearing upgrade
new cam test fitted and in with new cam bolts, cam
gear and retainer plate

old crank gear coming off
new gear getting pressed on
everything torqued down including new chain dampener. had to use the trick flow adapter as this block does not have the bolt holes for a dampener. was a tight fit. first installed the adapter , then install the chain / gears. after chain and gears are on then you can press on the dampener.
old oil pump out and new oil pump in - crossing my fingers that i did not pinch the pickup tube o-ring.
new ATI balancer on , front cover back on and torquing down the heads
both heads on !
front accessories going back on
upgrading the rest of the rockers
headers back on and clearance is looking much better with the new mounts haha
as the engine sits right now! measured and ordered pushrods on monday morning. chose 2-day shipping to get it here before xmas. fedex is not holding up on their end I dont think ill get my pushrods until after the weekend! kinda pissed on that part. so it sits like this until i get my pushrods!
so far so good! cant wait to fire it up and drive it!!! this was the first time doing ALL of this - never done this before or even helped anyone before. My haynes book for the truck was probably one of the best investments i made on this swap.

and this happened the other night :/
ended up breaking my Transmission Reaction Carrier Shaft . was taking off from a light and when it should have shifted into 2nd it busted and i coasted to a parking spot. had no forward gears and only reverse. had it towed to the shop the next day and this is what they found. everything else looked perfect but broke this clean apart. no metal material anywhere everything was clean. The cause - harsh 1-2 shift from removing all torque management. going to run the stock torque management and have tuner update as needed when i get it dyno tuned.
so as the shop gets my transmission back up and running I am having them install my rear end parts.
