What in the old man repair is this?
Can't believe I never noticed that the first time. New battery cable coming this weekend.
You can barely see it but is that second wire coming off of it supposed to be on there? RockAuto doesn't show any grounds similar to that.

My truck has that exact same smaller ground wire crimped below the large one like that. Should be factory.
I thought you were talking about the bolt with nut, which is really funny because my dad just did that exact trick while putting a battery in my other truck haha.

Why don't you see if that connection is bad at the battery first. You can buy the plastic cover and a new bolt if that's all you need.

Unless the bare wires are corroded you probably don't need to replace it. For the ground side, it's almost better to remove the boot because corrosion builds up inside those boots and it's a lot easier to clean it with no boot, also easier to inspect the wire for corrosion. I put some liquid tape over the exposed wires on mine.
