Shift fork in the Tcase might be cracked. I cracked mine and the truck would occasionally bang into reverse. Then it just quit and would just free rev in fwd or reverse.

Did some checks over the weekend.
1. Drained the rear diff and the fluid looked really good. Teeth are worn but look fine.
2. U-joints are good, no issues with them.

Then came the transfer case. Went ahead and drained it and got about a shot glass of fluid out. So I am going to guess that my problem is right there in the transfer case and it will end up needing a rebuild. I will try just adding fluid to it first and crossing my nuts though.
I did look for pump rub and I didn't see it.

I was thinking it was likely transfer case but you never know. Seen the rear diff do similar things. Atleast you know where the issue most likely is.

I am looking at rebuild kits now, one thing I probably will do is get the aluminum rear half. Does anyone have a preferred vendor for that? I see prices vary quite a bit.

Price shop it is. I think most people use the Merchant Automotive pump rub kit from what I have seen. Other than that, some companies have complete kits with a case half already.

The overhaul kit itself is a pretty standard price across the board. I probably will go with RA since I know who it is actually from. I think SKF it is like $165 which is about what everyone else is charging.

The aluminum rear half is the only thing I am not sure about. Dorman's is $400, Dirty Hooker Diesel's is $270, Merchant's is $600.

You most likely broke the shift fork. That wheel hop is a bitch. I hurt mine on the track and it took another year to break, this was in my lmm. They are tough but wheel hop kills them.
