I've had some craftsman deep sockets break like that before. Sucks when you don't have a backup & have to drive to the store to exchange them so you can keep on working.

Like I said I wasnt using an impact, just my 2ft breaker bar and a 5ft piece of pipe through the diff to hold it still while I tried to get the bolt off. I got all of the bolts except the last one, the one that broke the sockets. I did have a backup (left socket in picture), but broke that too.

i broke one taking the brake caliper off a buddies truck when the socket broke all the force was transfered from my hand to concrete... freakin hurt lol...
On the cv's i was just wondering if you had found anything because i need some better axles myself... i can break oriely specials on command haha and they arent hardly at any angle

as far as the axles, you should be able to go to any cv shop & have them build you some beefier ones. back in my Z24 days, guys would have to have different cv joints built when they swapped in 3.8 supercharged motors because the stock Z24 axles couldn't take the torque of the 3.8
