I've got 2 different cylinder heads for this thing, so I'll be doing a little bit of tech stuff tomorrow to decide which one we are gonna run so first order of business is getting everything cc'd to see where we are gonna be compression ratio wise then I'll get a clay print of the quinch band as they were both cut by different 2 stroke porters.

After doing the blueprint work on the compression ratio all that will left is assembling the top end and putting the carb/reed cage on it. The rest of the bike is pretty much ready to go, so it won't be long till we can twist it and see how nasty it's gonna be.

After all the crazy attention to detail on this bike (basically you could call it a complete blueprint build) I'm am very anxious to see how well we did. I have a feeling it'll have the potential to hurt some feeling out on the track.

While this was a close to "no budget" build, I'm really ready to do another that is truly an open check book build whether it is a 2 stroke or 4 stroke.

I'd be nice to be able to secure some sponsorship for a privateer build and see if we could compete with the big boys. .

What do you guys think?

Also, if anyone is interested I can do some over the top "pit bike" builds as well.

Stay tuned for mine, it's gonna be a riot.

Who ported the cylinder? And can you post some pics of the two different heads you have?

Not to try and poop on your idea of going against the factory bikes, but there has been many try to get on the level of a factory bike and go broke doing it. In my experience the factory bikes are next level compared to anything we can imagine, they get parts, data and have access to people that the average folk can't even dream of. The old joe gibbs yamahas are a prime example of drool quality stuff. I don't even want to guess how much money they have into developing the DAQ and control system for those bikes, probably enough to make a $15k motor look cheap.

Lots of teams in Canada try to do the same thing.... but never quite get there.

I'll need to ask the owner who did the final port job. It has been touched by two different people. The story with the first porter is a funny one, so I'll get that into and post up tomorrow. I'll get some pics of the heads tomorrow after I cc them.

You're not pooping on my idea. This bike is not being built for that......it wouldn't be AMA legal anyway due to the increased displacement. What I was saying is that if I could get some sponsorship to do a legit race bike and find me a hidden gem of a rider, I'd like to see how my abilities would complete at the pro level. I'm in no way trying to say that I think my abilities to build competitve bikes is just as good as some of of the unlimited budget race teams... I'm not trying to toot my own horn here), but I do think that I build some pretty nice bikes.

I was simply trying to say that it would be fun to see how my role as bike builder/tuner/mechanic would complete with some of the higher level guys. There is no doubt that I would likely fail, but my definition of "fail" in that statement would be not even being able to qualify or get into a main event. To me, 100% success would be making the show, even if we finished last with the bike still running. Please take my comments of wanting to compete at the pro level are about as humble as they can be.......please don't mistake what I'm typing here is conceited or cockiness.

On the other hand, I do feel pretty good about the things we have been doing (especially with this bike). Nothing wrong with that.

That's gonna be a sick bike. Makes me miss the days when I used to race the 85/supermini class. Then the economy hit and every average joe left the sport lol

I remember when the 4 stroke world took over the sport and Mitch Payton, the owner of pro circuit had a engineer from Toyota on the payroll to help design parts for them. He said it was something like 5x as expensive to build a national caliber 4 stroke vs 2 stroke and that the R&D on 2 strokes was basically all but done and that they literally couldn't get any more power out of them than they were on his kx125 bikes. Another thing that reminded me of this was that number 32. Matt Bisceglia who rides for Yoshimura Suzuki actually lives about 5 miles down the road from me and the suspension on his bikes is worth more than my truck haha

Some will notice but not everyone. On version 1.0 I was able to make modifications to the lower triple clamp to run 2015 front fender and number plate. It's a subtle change that really helps the bike look more "current".

The aluminum tank was done just for that reason as well. It will now allow the use of 2015 radiator shrouds. So just another subtle modification to help the bike look more current.

This sort of modification is one that can be quite funny when people walk by to take a look at the bike. They see a 2006-2008 RM250 frame/engine but the bike just doesn't look as though it is 10 years old. I said funny above cause it can actually evoke a literal head scratching moment.

I really wanna know who did the porting, you can do every fancy little thing you want to that motor but if it doesn't get a good port job... everything else will be wasted. 2 strokes don't care much about ci, stroke blah blah blah, They want porting
