Would have been cool but the more I thought about building a truck the more I thought I’d I really want to do a Na 6.0l in a first gen s10 instead. Over the years I’ve become a big fan of naturally aspirated engines and enjoy them more then forced induction, only problem is a Na 400-450whp 6.0 in a truck that’s probably close to 5k lbs probably won’t be all that fast, now if it’s in a 2800-2900lb truck that’s a different story. Also for right now I got way too much on my plate to worry about really building stuff, doing a cash out refi on my triplex then going to buy another duplex. Maybe one or two more after that I’ll be able to buy a nice home for the wife and I and I’ll have enough passive income to be able to build what I want without feeling guilty about it.
as far as the frame horns what are they worth to someone? If you need them or know someone who does I can cut them off tomorrow for you.

Not sure if they are still available OEM but the aftermarket replacement ones go from just over $100 -$150 Each depending on the source...
I think those are supposed to be the good ones. You can get some Cheap unbranded ones for $50 but we all know how that goes...
The 01-02HD are specific and different from the 03-07HD classic bumper frame brackets. Here is an example.

Buying them is definitely the hard part. Managing the tenants, doing repairs..etc is pretty easy as long as you don’t rent to dirt bag people. In the last 4 years I’ve only had one tenant who was like that and I was able to get her to move out but was super worried at the time I would have to go through the eviction process and have her try to squat on my property. It’s crazy in Salem how much the real estate market is shooting up, pretty much everywhere across the US is as well. Duplex’s in Salem were 160k for a dumpy one up to 330ish for a nice one in an upper middle class neighborhood this was 4-5 years ago. Now they are 290k for the crappiest up to 600k for a nice one. Down in Southern California I see them for 1.6m to 2.2m I’m worried those prices are moving up this way along with allot of people who are migrating north.

Yeah I am trying to get myself into a house next year or the year after. Would like a place that I own rather than live with my parents or grandparents (I'm 20 not old so don't judge me) I figure if I can get into somewhere nice I can pay it off eventually and then move and rent it out.

Best advice I can give you is buy a 2-3 bedroom home and rent your rooms out while your living there to help cover your mortgage. Instead of blowing all your extra money pay your full share of the mortgage direct to principal. Better to get your foot in the door sooner then later. Poppa biden is printing off money as fast as the printers will go so ***** gonna be going through the roof in the next few years along with rents and then after wages. They want to run the dollar into the ground and are doing it as quick as they can.

All my dreams of owning a Chevrolet SS and my truck to sit inside my garage are going down the drain!
Yeah that is what I thought about doing but nobody to rent it out to at the moment sadly

When I was younger and renting rooms I would rent them to people off craigslist. I never had an issue finding a roommate to fill the rooms. You have to sift through a few weirdos and dirt bags before you’ll find someone who will work but it’s well worth it. My first mortgage was $984 a month on a 3 bedroom 1 bath house, I was getting $450 per room per month so that pretty much covered my mortgage then I paid water/sewer/gas/electric out of pocket and put all my rent money towards principal. I had my house almost paid off about 7 years after I started making double payments on it then sold it and put that money as a down payment on my triplex. You can rent rooms for 700-1000 now in Oregon so if you bought a 4 bedroom house for 350k you could litterally live there for free and have all your bills paid by other peoples money.

good advice above... but just to present the reality that it ain't all roses, sunshine, and pockets full of cash:
after renting my current house out while stationed out-of-state, it overall wasn't a terrible thing... but dang, did they cause a number of headaches & a couple grand out of pocket in repairs when they left! they're what made me glad our TX house sold first (rather than rent, as it was dual-listed) when we moved north again - back into my first house.
overall turned out alright because while they were paying the north mortgage, i was also paying down the TX house quicker - and the equity when we sold was enough to pay off the 1st house, too (with some savings). using deployment cash to pay off the new truck now, and it'll feel good to be back out of debt. one thing i learned is that i'd rather pay a competent manager than have to deal with tenants myself again (and that was after firing 3 bad managers).

good or bad is yet-to-be-determined, but my philosophy right now has been paying off debts & front-loading retirement savings (making up for not starting in my twenties).
after i'm out of the military, i'll likely start slowing down the retirement in favor of building passive income streams... just figured having more stability would help me manage those better than beebopping around every couple years.
