Definitely need to put some gravel or pave the mud area. You are going to hate your life with that ****.
Actually scratch the gravel idea, my parents did that on this tiny portion of their driveway and it constantly got all over the driveway and sucked ***

Just dig a French drain under it and it will be dry as a bone.

Most likely going to just pour a slab next summer out to the asphalt. I have a buddy who’s been doing concrete work for over 25 years who’s down to help.

tonight I started trimming some things off the Tahoe. Cut out the spare tire carrier mount, I would estimate it at somewhere between 15-20lbs. Also started cutting some of the rear hatch under the plastic covers and realized my Tahoe hatch skin is aluminum. I thought that was pretty strange but pretty cool. The prices I cut weighed next to nothing though but it came out clean. Trying to get the motivation up to do the cam in the hoe. It needs to be done I’m just being lazy about it.

Post some pics of the hatch skin your cutting. I cut all my spare tire crap out as well and it's much more enjoyable to do rear-end work now that I can sit criss-cross under it.

nothing really exciting to see. I wanted to trim where i could where it wouldn’t make a difference for any of the friction clips. There’s also a thick piece of steel between the aluminum inside and I believe the steel outter shell on the hatch. I’d like to get that piece out but I know if i did it would make the whole hatch flimsy and definitely wouldn’t be worth the hassle.

as for more room to work on it yes definitely, I noticed that immediately.

Ahh gotcha, yeah I did the opposite and added a ton of insulation on my hatch and well over the entire truck. Weight isn't a major concern for me tho. I remember seeing a turbo Tahoe that a guy did some serious weight savings too and he cut some speed holes in the rear bumper. It looked pretty good IMO but it's a lot of work to remove a tiny bit of weight.

Yeah it’s not nearly as productive as when you have a 2100 or 2000lb Honda and you can get 2-300 lbs out of it. Something like that makes a massive difference but going from say 5050lbs to 4850lbs probably wouldn’t barley be noticeable. I’m mostly just trying to trim some fat where I can where it won’t make any sort of noticeable difference in how the truck drives, comfort or anything along those lines. Most of the big weight is really running boards, stock exhaust manifolds, stock exhaust and cats. I was debating on deleting the rear ac stuff but I doubt it weighs all that much anyways.

Sounds like you need to remove the running boards and go to some long tubes and straight pipe.

Having owned my rear a/c Tahoe for so long, and having ridden in and driven Tahoes/Expos and even Explorers without rear a/c, I can with 100% certainty say- take the weight "penalty". The front HVAC box can't keep up with cooling the whole truck and it makes a huge difference, even if you're ridding alone

I point the DS roof vents at my back and turn rear air on HIGH a/c and cool my back off on hot summer days. Its mint

I do the exact opposite in the winter

You have a 5000lb truck. Take weight out of the C6 if you wanna go fast, thats my opinion. But here I am adding weight to all my vehicles except the MR2 and C5 aha
