No question that gearset should be an advantage for moving a heavy vehicle from a dig. I think more of the advantage is in the 1/8 though. On a simulator as I recall the 1/4 mi. mph is down slightly. Can't wait to see the results! Should be fun.

Yeah, I figured I may have to sacrifice a little off the mph, but at the end of the day it's who gets down the 1/4 mile with the best time that's most important - I'm pretty excited to see how she performs!

My goal is to try and get a direct comparison with the only difference from my PB fall run of 12.00 @ 115 being the upgraded fuel system and new gears in the trans. However, I'm not sure I'll be able to restrain myself from adding the smaller pulley and 16" drag radials too - I think the smaller wheels and tires will make a huge difference over the 22's - my guess would be .3 faster

Oh cool, thanks Eddie! I'm going to look at those rims today, in fact. I meant to ask you if you did any runs with the stock 20's and were able to find out how much faster the 16's made you.

yea the wheels alone could be good for that much.

Smaller pulley, running on e85, and the different trans gears are game changers though... I can't wait to see you hit the track. its going to be impressive.

No I haven't! He texted me back on 1/13 and said he was still waiting on parts but should be only a few days. I asked him again on 1/25 and same response. Starting to get a little annoyed but really can't do anything about it other than cancel my order then be stuck with trying to find someone else to do it in a really short period of time.

I drove about 1/2 hr. south of me to look at those 15+ yr. old 16"s the dude was wanting 3 hundy for. Got down there and they were in pretty rough shape, but he would only go down to $275 so I walked haha. Then went home and found these from another dude on CL for only a buck fiddy! Off a 2010 Silverado and in really good condition - 17" x 7.5" and weigh 25lbs each, so I snatched 'em up! My Intros are 50lbs each - a savings of 25lbs per corner 11.43 lol

We will have to wait and see, but I'm not sure how "on board" I would be with the transmission gears change. I get the theory behind it, but that is what a good converter is for........

I don't remember if this is a driver or what, but the general drag racing community is going the opposite direction with transmissions ratios it seems.

Definitely keep us posted on results. It's too bad you won't have a back to back to compare it to.

This AWD truck is around 5500 lbs that came with factory 3.06, 1.63, 1.0, .70 gears in a 60e + it's used mainly as a weekend driver so I didn't want a high stall. As you probably know, the stock 80e gearing is 2.48, 1.48, 1.0, .75, which yielded me a shitty 1.83 60' on 11 psi last fall on 22" intros - this is the main reason for the 2.75 - 1.57 gear change. Hopefully this will solve that problem and get me outta the hole much better, but the jury's still out so we'll just have to wait and see what happens when the track re-opens in a couple of months!
