Your right, and I've thought of that trust me. But honestly I enjoy the drive more, I try to beat the **** out of mine prior to going and I don't do track tunes, race gas, etc. I usually won't mess with tune much at track either.

exactly my mentality too. I also dont go to the track all that often. I went a couple times last fall but that was my first time in 2 years.

It'll be interesting to see things unfold this spring to say the least...

Ok so here's what I've decided on after pondering on this a while. I'm probably looking at 12 to 1300$ for some new M&H drag radials to fit those 17's I just bought yesterday, so then it made me think of how many more times I'll even use them - I'm thinking 1 to 3 more times at the most which is pretty expensive just to give me a better chance at saying, "Hey, I'm faster than you". I really wanted a Wilwood big Brake kit next for the truck and I can't even do that with these 17" rims and drag radials because the smallest rim I can have is an 18. So, I've decided to forego the rims and drag radials and just ordered some sweet Blue Wilwoods which will be going on with the fuel system, trans upgrade and TPIS here in the next few weeks. Looks like you may remain the fastest Rob since I don't think I'll get there without those drag radials.

That's my train of thought, I like driving mine. The track is a after thought.

PS, you want good brakes go hydro boost. They are great. Those calipers are sweet though.

Me too! I sometimes get carried away with the whole track thing, and I'll still go but it will be exactly like I drive it around town.

I hear you guys... I didn't plan on 'track tires' but I found the second set of denali wheels really cheap and picked up the tires fairly worn off a member here for pretty cheap. Without them I think I would have likely been about .25 slower. Randy if I was you I would not worry about the M&h tires so much. Just find some stock 18's now to work with your brakes with a normal street tire. It will be cheap and offer benefits over the stock SSS wheels. I wouldn't make it a priority, just check from time to time. Some will pop up cheap. I know your combo has more to it than mine does... It's only a matter of time before the 11.43 is beat by someone on here with a TVS. What I want to see is a 10.99 or better. Pat has a strong set up that's very capable, E Mack, TimZ could very likely do it this spring with a couple changes, and your truck.

As you probably know, the stock 80e gearing is 2.48, 1.48, 1.0, .75, which yielded me a shitty 1.83 60' on 11 psi last fall on 22" intros - this is the main reason for the 2.75 - 1.57 gear change. Hopefully this will solve that problem and get me outta the hole much better, but the jury's still out so we'll just have to wait and see what happens when the track re-opens in a couple of months!
Not sure it's gonna improve your 60' as much as you think. Converter slip is so high in low gear, the trans ratio itself does not play as much of a roll as say in a 6-speed car.

Like I said, we'll just have to wait and see in a couple of months at the track. My guess is .2 better off my current 1.83

Let me guess......if it does manage to improve the 60' by 2 tenths.....it's solely because of the gear change right?

I will be there tuning the truck most of the day, so for the first run I'll make sure the only difference from last fall would be the new fuel system and the Wilwood brakes. I've already said my goal was to get the most direct comparison possible, but hell, I'll be able to tell just from driving it if there's any significant improvement or not - I'll gopro under the hood, the run and the time slip, then post up the video just like I always do.

I would have figured you to be smarter than what you're showing everyone you actually are - You're really showing your ignorance by making such a big deal of this gear change. + I've never once said my choice to change these gears will make a huge improvement like you're implying. Now, if we were talking about a two wheel drive RCSB truck, possibly a race truck or possibly even your truck, I could see your point. But we're not, we're talking about a very heavy AWD Street Truck with 22 x 10 rims and 305/40/22's all the way around. The simple fact that you don't realize the factory 3.06 gearing and AWD were what make the SSS and Denali trucks JUMP off the line and so much fun to drive, prove my point and your stupidity. In essence, you're arguing that you're smarter than the engineers who designed these trucks...sounds to me like you're just trying to stir up **** on my thread again, just like last time. So for that...
