finally got back into the garage yesterday. i havent touched it since the beginning of dec due to a back surgery. the plan of attack was to install the transmssion controller. i'm installing the computer behind the passenger seat so i pulled the rubber flooring out to run wires under the carpet.
MOTHERFUCKER looks like the heater has been leaking into the passenger floor for a while. the jute held the water and the rust set in deep. I grabbed a hammer to see if there was still enough meat to run it as is and smacked a good 1" hole into the floor board before i got to metal. after some scraping/vacuuming i found a few pin holes rusted above the rocker. i'll have to fix this later. i'm guna make some temporary patch panels and run it as is until i can find a donor truck to cut the passenger side floor out. my favorite thing about this truck as a project was basically no paint or body work and virtually zero rust. atleast it's in the floor i guess so it will just be body work and a heavy coat of primer then hide it with the foor. i ran out of daylight. all i need to run is the keyed power, a ground and RPM to the TCU. i also have all of the wiring in place to get the Tach installed. my new carb should be back within 2 weeks. the TCU was the last part of the project i wasnt looking forward to. it should be down hill from here. Just ordered: innovate MTX-L widebandad autometer 2 gauge a pillar pod 2 mandrel 180 bends 1 dynomax bullet (already have 1) 2 strap band clamps Trick Flow 8.8 diff cover a few tools, cables and misc. tonight i need to fill the fuel cell with gas to the top and measure for my shocks. calling strange tomorrow and ordering my double adjustable shocks for the rear. it should be EVERYTHING to complete the project minus some misc fluids and bolts. what am i missing? lol |

(i didnt say by my truck :jest: ) If you couldn't do it I would be disappointed in you and your truck because mine would have been together for 5 years at that point. Ha Ha Really though you should KILL me in my little 5.3L of slow turdness. |
got some strange double adjustable shocks on the way. hopefully i didnt screw up lol.
he gave me 2 options. 6" stroke with 3" compression and 3" extension or 7" stroke with 2" compression and 5" extension i went with the 7" stroke because only 3" didnt seem like enough extension with the monoleaf off a trans brake. if 2" compression isnt enough for street duty i can modify the lower shock mount to have 3" compression with 4" extension. hopefully it will work at 2" compression since the truck is so light. we'll find out. |
