Default Vortec350ss 2005 Sierra Denali - Forged 370 and cog driven TVS2300

Second stage of the build starts at post 318 CLICK HERE

Alright guys here’s my attempt at a build thread. I have a TON going on in the next few weeks and months, but here is a basic outline.

Here are the upgrades:

Performance:

TVS1900
PAC1207 springs
LS9 Gaskets
ARP Head studs
Single 3.5” exhaust
4L80e with HD2 shift kit and balanced driveshafts
2800 multidisc converter (not totally decided on the brand yet, but I have a good idea)
TA performance girdle

Interior:
Rear Bucket seats
2000-2002 center console painted to match my interior
JL audio stealth box for the rear console modified to fit a 10” alpine X type
Alpine M1000 amp
Factory Nav unit with navigation and back up camera

First things first, I’m pulling my AFR 225’s and TBSS intake and going back to stock heads with the upgraded springs and the ARP head studs. That will hopefully happen this weekend (fingers crossed I get all the parts I need before then). I don’t plan on doing the blower install then, but crazier **** has happened. After I sell the AFR heads, I will buy a converter and a few of the other odds and ends I need to finish the swap like the NVG149 input shaft. That being said… I know myself, and I know I will get impatient and install this blower prior to the tranny haha. I will, however, keep the tune safe and run minimal boost. It came with a 3.2” pulley, but with my exhaust and cam combo I have a feeling this will max at about 5#, which is perfect for my STOCK trans haha. I will be posting pics of everything over the next few days.
My long term goal is to get this truck into the 11’s. I already have the ARH 1 7/8” headers and a decent boost cam (222/226 on a 114), even though there are better out there. I will most likely end up at 10-12# of boost all said and done.

Added pics to the second post...

Here are all the pics so far.

First things first, cleaning my stock 317's and getting ready to put the PAC 1207 springs in there.

TVS1900... in brand new condition. Couldnt be happier about it!

Tranny and EVERYTHING i need for the swap besides wiring and the NVG149 input shaft:

The rear buckets installed:

Console I will buy eventually:

JL Stealth box I have:

Factory LUX nav unit and Nav antenna:

There we have it... I'm sure there will be more to come.

Why are you pulling the AFR heads in favor of stockers. Are you 10.5 or 11:1 now?

11:1 now. There are a few reasons I am pulling them and going back to stock.

The first is that I am looking around at the crazy times and power people are putting down with stock heads, meanwhile I was always fairly unhappy (on a relative basis of course) with what the heads alone got me. I thought the 11:1 compression was a little more than I needed, and I would be better off at 10:1. Also, if anything goes wrong, I would be seriously bummed to ruin such an expensive set of heads... and between us girls these heads are helping to fund the blower haha. I wouldn't be going FI without the cash from these heads.

Yea. Selling the heads should probably net you a grand or so

You think that's it? I'm hoping for a little more... or did you mean after all the expense of swapping them? They also have a crane cams quick lift adjustable shaft mount rocker kit on them. They will come with raised PRC polished valve covers and pushrods to match the rockers... I guess we'll see.

The heads will probably fetch 1500 at best I figure, since they're the outdated model albeit good heads. I'm not sure about the other accessory parts you mentioned.

Stock 317s figure 200. Then good springs 200-300. Plus machine work, never know if the heads will need additional work ie new valve job, valves, valve guides etc.

I think 1g is a reasonable figure. Although, if that amount of money is an issue, boost may not be the best idea. Cost is a fairly easily derived value....until something goes wrong.

Oh yea for sure... I was thinking you meant they would sell for 1000. My heart sank.

No, I totally agree with your last post haha. part of moving away from them is minimizing the heartache if and when something goes bad... I like the idea of being able to pick up another motor at a junk yard for fairly cheap.
