That's the nature of big turbos though. My 80/88 is not as fun overall on the street compared to the 75/74 but it's a monster on 20-21 psi if you can find road to use it. The 75/74 had no pull up top

I kind of expected it to be a little bit of a dog. I just thought that on just motor I would be high 12's. But that really doesn't matter to me. This thing is built for high boost as Atomic said, and it will get there. I am just taking my time. Trying to get it all right the first time and I am pretty inexperienced.

On the blower talk, my buddy is just finishing up his 370/tvs2300 jackshaft build that he is hoping to be high 800's hp. He did almost the same build as me but with stock stroke. Should scream. We can't wait to run each other. I am hoping I will be able to build enough boost to hang with him off the line. Kind of the same setup as Vortec's build. It will be fun to see the turbo vs. the blower run. Both trucks are SSS's and both awd, and we both did the exact same 4l80 trannys from the same builder. Many of the parts are identical. Mid12sSSS is his name on here. I don't think he has updated his build thread lately.

^This! My old 370 with a 76/68 was fun to drive around town. I only ever turned it up to 14psi and it ran low 12's. But it did well down low.

And that is what this s480 is, 80/87 actually I think. In a t4 setup from FI.

Yea when I saw his build I couldnt believe it... so similar to mine. Frankly I was pissed it took me so long to get off my *** and get it going because I was thinking it would be somewhat unique haha

It should run well. I'm not sure I see a TVS2300 and 370 beating a 408/s480 on the track though... and when i say not sure I mean no shot. On the street... itll be a different animal. The TVS will just seem angry - really angry - compared to what you are describing.

Blower stands no chance against the s480 on the big end

Yea. It's not fair haha.

The s480 is just way more compressor than the 2300 is. It he was working with say a 3.3 or 3.4 twin screw with the same 408 you have it would be a little more fair. I would say the 2300 is a fair comparison to a turbo in the ball park of 76mm.

In any event... I'm excited about what this throttle body could do for me. I was choking the blower on the top end prior to it.

How did you know that the Tb was choking your blower up high? Vacuum?

How much of a tuning diffrence would this Tb be? You pretty much would have to change more than just Tb tables because you would have more air all around right? So Ve adjustments?

Yea I was dropping boost at higher RPM ever so slightly even after the intake tube was changed. Based on what I know of the blower's VE this shouldn't be happening unless there is vacuum before the rotors.

And yes I will need to adjust for the actual TB size so that the computer can accurately control running airflow. The VE table will change as well. I'm sure it wont take very drastic changes, but I will be changing it. Once my fuel system is complete I will have to address that anyway. My VE table is a little fucky since I was dropping fuel pressure WOT.
