I lucked out and got my l76 for 350 with the l92s. Im doing a stock rebuild replacing the bent rod and piston that was on it. Then eventually getting the 243's i have sent to WCCH to have them worked up.

Next when thats done, im going to build the 4.8 to a Iron 5.7. IMO like said before its the best way to make good power and not break the bank just getting a base motor.

I have also wanted to tamper with the distributor conversion stuff and run a carb, could be fun.

why are you building an iron 5.7 if you already have the l76?

So far i sold the l92's, and few extras that came with it, and have no money into the 6 liter, its just a little project to have some fun. If i were to build an all out motor with built internals, it would be an IRON 5.7 cheaper easier, and well...6 liters swaps are overrated. Im just going to 12's or bust haha.

how is a 6 liter swap overrated. It's the best bang for the buck mod there is. If you already have a 6.0 block why spend all the money machining the 4.8/5.3 block.

Ok...well then my opinion it is. Also My project and not alot of machining really. Clean, Check, Bore and Hone, With a forged rolling assembly balanced You come out pretty cheap if you shop around IMO.

Schwanke has them for 2199 forged rods and pistons, stock crank. I doubt youll get cheaper than that once you figure in all the machining, assembly and stuff.

yeah, this has been the only drawback I've found with HPT.... I've found everything else to be MUCH easier. and better to work with...

and GMC, you need to stop arguing in my thread everyone knows that building a 5.7 is better than a 6L hahaha, it is a significant increase, but I disagree with it being the "best bang for the buck"
