Today's project was removing the rear axle. It's getting dropped off for some 4:11 gears and a new posi unit. In the mean while I'm waiting for the belltech C-notch that they make for this dimpled frame to show up. Also noticed the parking brakes were hosed and the backing plates are rotten. So those are on the list as well.
Debating if I should get an aluminum cover with the bearing supports. Not making big power yet but you never know!

Funny when you do this sort of thing and things go wrong (wrong parts, backorders, waiting on ups). The project just seems to go full stop. Then suddenly parts seem to rain like crazy. Now I have a ton to get done!
Had a decent overcast day today so tore into the truck.
Got the leaf springs out and front bushings swapped to the solid bushing for the cal track bars. My guy got the rear end all finished up (4:10 gears, Eaton, all new bearings and T/A girdle).
Getting the stock bushings out kind of sucked. I didn't want to burn them out so I fought with the press. Used the forklift as an adjustable height table...worked out great.
After that the wife was still working in her office so I tore open the Belltech C Notch instructions and took a look. For the price you pay for this stuff they could at least send a decent template. A thin piece of paper is kind of a pain. I took it and copied it onto card stock and cut it out. Much better to work with.
Grabbed a passenger side pic of the "dimpled" frame. I guess it's a one year thing. The Belltech spindles fit awesome. I guess they should for $300.
The plan was to just mark it out and pick up grinder wheels to cut it tomorrow. But I couldn't resist cutting it with the plasma cutter. With a straight piece of bar stock and a clamp it was really easy to cut. Took a fraction of the time a cutoff wheel or Sawzall would have taken.
So lots of quality time tomorrow with the drill.
Hope to have it all buttoned up and on the ground tomorrow.

Called up Thompson Motorsports yesterday and got a cnc'd ls3 headed forged LQ9 heading my way. Kept the CR at 10:1 just in case it's lacking in power when done.
Maybe a little turbo action as the icing on the cake?
Now I'm debating wheels....20's or 22's?
