2000 5.3 vs 80's 383; who'd win?
#14
383 will pull on it on the big end. The 2000 will pull away on the dig considering the 383 will spin all over the place but the 2000 truck should get pulled on the top end... I would think the older model truck might be a little lighter too considering its 2WD

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies! Sounds like it could turn out to be a good race. I'll see if I can convince them to go vs each other at the strip either this weekend or next. I'll post results. Opinions are still welcome, I like to hear from everyone.

ok, the reason we haven't raced yet, is the 80's has a knocking 350 in it, and the 383 crate won't be here until monday and won't be in the truck until next weekend. also, i don't have my tc in yet, but that should go in this weekend. the 80's truck does have 1 3/4" headers, e-fans, and an electric water pump. there will be video when this happens. i know he'll run me down in the long run, but with 450 torque and a 3k stall going in he'll destroy his tires, or tire, off the line. i'll probably be launching in 4hi to make the most of his inability to get off the line. i'm reasonably sure i'll take the 1/8th, but i don't know about the 1/4 mile. we'll just have to see how he handles his lack of traction.
