Default 4.8 crew vs 5.3 rcsb

Well I was helping a buddy work on his truck in benton the Sat night and he had commented about my truck running pretty good for a big truck w/4.8. Then he tells me a friend of his has a NNBS 5.3/6-speed 4x4 WT, stripped down, just a base truck with some sort of exhaust and programmer. He said that his friend ran the same times that my truck did (8.90's 1/8) with his truck with just a programmer and a muffler....lol I said bs, tell him to come out and we'll run .

Excuse: I don't have my programmer anymore, it cuts off at 98.
Response: Thats cool cause with my stock drive shaft and 4.10's I have my speed limiter set to 105, so we'll shut down at 98.

So, finally he comes out, doesn't want to run from a dig, really no place to in town, so we go from 25.

Complete *** whipping, I put at least 6 or 7 trucks on him by 90mph so I let off.

He cruises up next to me again, I wait for him to honk at about 45-50ish.
No honk he just punches it gets out on me about 1 car or so before I hit it, I stopped his pull went back past him and put a few between us by 95ish.

Stop to talk, he says he'll holler at me when he gets his "stuff done" and we'll run again. Cool....lol.

He never could show me a timeslip, or remember any of his 1/8 60' or anything so I knew he was full of it.

Really I guess it wasn't a fair run, but thats what happens when you pop off some stupid **** I guess.

LOL! I don't even know the guy, was tuning on a friends truck and it went from there. I personally didn't even think he would show, and he was an arrogant lil ****. I thought he was about to cry when he lost, with his girl in the truck with him, and my wife was laughing at him.

The only think I was worried about was that it was a rcsb with a 5.3 6 speed, so he was lighter, had equal gearing to me, even though he had the 3.08's I believe. I havent ran it since I pulled the converter back out, still runs pretty good tho

No, I expected to win, but not that badly. My truck should be capable of mid 14's as it sits.

Too bad you got rid of that yank converter. That thing made your 4.8 run good

It still pulls great, just not the same 0-25 or in third. Surprisingly, the yank setup pulled better in 3rd. Once it actually cools back off, I'll see what this setup will net..

I miss the yank, but I want an f-body and just didn't really need that converter since I wasn't even planning on going back to the track for 6 mos or so. Wife drives this thing almost daily, she likey the setup better without the converter now for dd, but she admits she was used to driving it the way it was...lol.
