stock SyTy front diff's go 9's. Stock 10 bolt rearends go 10's.

Remember, only 50% (depending on transfer case) of your HP & torque go to each axle.

The torque won't always necessarily get split 50/50 front to rear. Depending on weight transfer and only 1 wheel drive in the front, more probably goes through the rear. If the truck hops a little bit I could see how the front or rear could see more than its share of torque.

It's only one wheel drive if the other wheel breaks free. My truck has open diffs in both the rear and the front. I installed air bags in the rear with separate fill valves for each and use them to preload the right rear. I also use the front torsion bars to preload the left front. It hooks pretty darn good in both 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive when you stomp on it. In 2wd, even though I have an open diff, as long as I'm going strait, it lights BOTH tires pretty much all the time. It's all in the cross weight setup... just like in my circle track days, lol.

4wd is for hill climbing!

i feel there are distinct advantages and dissadvantages over awd vs 2wd on street and at track. for street launching i vote yes, but roll racing i vote no.

track is just a no brainer for 2wd, if guys are pulling same 60's in 2wd why do ya need awd? less weight, less parts to break, and you only have to focus on one axle setup.

then again awd makes anyone an instant driver mod. how many yuppies do you know runnin around in sti's pullin sick launches, give them a 2wd and see what happens-----out come excuses............

i'm putting together a thesis.

how much heavier is a 4WD extended cab, then a 2WD exteded cab?

and in a 12-13 second truck, what is the weight-to-ET difference? (2wd vs 4wd/awd)

an 80e pulls how much horsepower from the motor, over a 60e?

and a transfercase and front diff result in about a 20-25% loss from crank HP/TRQ? and a 2wd losses 12-15%?

So would a 4wd 60e, make the same power as a 2wd 80e?

i look at 4wd/awd as an extra diff to help the truck/car accellerate. the downside being the topend suffers from driveline powerloss, & weight. But as long as its a 12-13 second truck, how much worse is the ET.

in an equal comparison a 4WD/AWD will out 60foot (or even 1/8th mile) a 2WD on the street or the strip.

^^^wheel hp or engine hp? being equal you may 60 or 1/8 better, but will be out ran to the 1/4

tranny loss between a 60 and 80 imo would be minimal, a whole t case and front diff will be alot more loss.

if two idetical body trucks were setup with the exact same motor setup and one was 2wd and one was 4wd, the 2wd is gonna win everytime

extra weight plus power loss of 4wd in an identical setup = owned in 1/4

im sure its a fine line i discuss with modded vehicles, because nobody has the same setup. the facts are facts between identical 2wd and 4wd vehicles.

modded suspension 2wd vs 4wd.......its all in the setup. there are alot more guys putting the effort into getting a great 60 foot out of a 2wd than awd........if awd was the **** everyone would have it
