3.23 on your tire 3rd at 5900 speed is 170mph with 275 40 17 top of 3rd at 5900 rpms 139.
3.73 on your tire 3rd at 5900 speed is 146mph with 275 40 17 top of 3rd at 5900 is 120.8
4.10 on your tire 3rd at 5900 speed is 133mph with 275 40 17 top of 3rd is 99.27.
od on the 4l60e is .69.
so at 75 mph with your tire 3.23 gears and your tire now 1800 rpms about at 75mph
with 3.73 it would be about 2100 rpms
with 4.10s would be about 2300 rpms.
with 3.23 gears you are still in 2nd going thru the traps or in 3rd?

seeing you run 71 mph in the 1/8 now when you are going thru the lights your only at 4000 rpms in 2nd. with 3.73 71 mph would be 4650 in 2nd which is better and with 4.10s and your stock tire 71 mph in 2nd would come in at 5150 which would be a lot better
now with 3.73 gears and 275 40 17 drag radials at 74 mph you would be at 5900 rpms. seeeing that a mt drag radial 295 45 17 5900 would be 5900 rpms
For your truck and combo i would go 3.73 gears and 295 45 17 mt drag radials. That is by far the best set up you

well thanks for all the trouble man! thats some great info!
looks pretty close to what i actually run, rpm wise. i trapped in 2nd gear, dont remember what rpm though. it shifts the 2-3 about 95...wind drag probably makes it differ from your calculation?
how tall is that 295/45-17? i think mine now are about 30.5" tall?

295 45 17 like 27 inches tall. Trust me you will get into mid 8s with 295 45 17 and 3.73
i used a calculator from another site when i get home ill use the one i have on my laptop and that one is dead on.
now are you going to be running a 100 shot because if you do that will change everything.

with a posi 373 gears and your stall on the 100 shot you will get 1.6 1.7 60 foot times easy.
now question are you going to be using nitrous soon.
Before you do anything else get 373 gears plus posi and run it with your tires. tell me what it runs and then i can get you the ideal set up.
run your tires at 24 psi, dont go into the water and at the light hold it at 1200 rpms. when you see 3rd yellow stab it this will flash the converter.

i already got the dry kit, i will install this weekend, and the gears/locker will come after refunds. i am a pretty experienced drag racer, as far as the track goes... i just used to do it with a drag car, instead of my DD truck... but this is more fun for me!
traction is going to be fun, i think i will spray about 3K-5600 or so, not through the shifts... it usually starts to hook right before 3k in first at the track....i just need to get a window switch for ease of operation. for now, the kit just has an arming switch and full throttle activation switch. should be interesting though!
dont know if you read my post in the drag racing section, but i cut a couple of great lights... just had a slow truck. lol i ran 4 times, and every light was 0.08 or better.

ok are you doing only 1/8 mile just want to get that out there.
now if your going to be doing 1/8 mile only and on the 100 shot with 3.73 gears you will be trapping in the low 80s. Seeing that with a mickey thompson drag rads295 65 15 (30.1 inches tall) in 2nd gear at 5600 when nitrous turns off you will be at 77mph and at 5900 you will be at 81 mph. So you prob will come thru the traps at that range which will be perfect.
if your planning to do 1/4 mile then 275 40 17 mt drag rads would be the way to go.
before you do anything else run the truck with the nitrous and give me the 60foot and you 1/8 mph and time and then we can get the tire option that would work best. I want to get you a tire where you will be at the top of 2nd going thru the traps because if you get into 3rd will hurt you unless you run like 4.10s and 275 40 17.
